It is time for change. NKA International is a

registered Karate organization that is going

live on the 23rd October 2015. For those of

you that are not aware, NKA is a brand new

Karate organization that focuses on the pure

essence of traditional karate that embraces

human values. We are determined to lift the

character of our students through our

KarateCare Program. The intensity of ka-

rate practice does not just lie on the physical

practice it is also that of the nature of the

person who practices the art. If bad people

practice karate no one is safe. If good peo-

ple practice the art everyone is safe. Our

aim is to convert the people with bad ways

to become good and those who are good to

become better.

We comprise of teachers globally for the

pure purpose of reigniting traditional Karat-

eDo which had lost its way for decades.

Teachers have come from different countries

with their clear objective of making a differ-

ence, as in their hearts know KarateDo had

taken a wrong direction of making it a game.

We have teachers from many countries and

we will continue to grow. Teachers in our

team are determined to improve life skills of

students by bringing back good discipline,

better self control training, education in

human values, improvised character devel-

opment programs , confidence development

training and the true art of KarateDo. As we

believe KarateDo comprises of three aspects

Physical ( Body), Mental (Mind) and Spiritual

( Life).

Goshin Kan has been working very hard on

many aspects of KarateDo since it inception.

Naidu to create such an organization for

many years but he was reluctant to do so as

he thought it was best to keep this only

within his own organization called Goshin

kan. This has been working superbly and

the transformation of many students were

beyond all expectations. This together with

the growing need for change in the world

inspired Kancho to have a world organiza-

tion.

NKA has a system called KarateCare which

was developed to build character in stu-

dents. KarateCare is based on fives human

values as its knowledge base. These values

are Truth, Love, Peace, Right Conduct and

Non Violence. It is a special program of

learning and developing the human charac-

ter. If character is good then the environ-

ment is safe. People of good character are of

no threat to anyone. The ones with good

character are an asset to the group, society

and land they belong too. Teachers are spe-

cially trained to impart this knowledge to

students.

aim is to convert the people with bad ways

to become good and those who are good to

become better.

The prime objective of NKA International is

to band together like minded teachers world

wide who desire to impart the pure essence

of traditional karate do disciplines and val-

ues to all its students. Every school within

NKA International will have its own knowl-

edge base of style or system of imparting

physical techniques. This operation of each

school operates under its own medium of

understanding in terms of physical tech-

nique. This will allow each to have the free-

dom to operate as they seem fit as long as

there is no cause for concern of what hap-

pens to the students physically or mentally.

We accept all, into NKA International imma-

terial of style or system. We believe there is

not one way of executing technique how-

ever, in terms of disciplines and values we

have a united format under one banner.

In our schools we have implemented various

ideas that has had outstanding results.

there is a growing interest in non tournament

world wide. Many have asked Kancho Deena

Our system is non competitive as we find there

to create such an organization for many years

but he was reluctant to do so as he thought it

was best to keep this only within his own organi-

together with the growing need for change in

ganization.

With that in his heart he has started to put to-

gether NKA International. It is hard to find an

organization in this present day that will em-

brace all styles and systems into one. This is the

objective of NKA. KarateDo has had it separa-

tion from the land of its birth Okinawa, and then

to Japan it grew into many more divisions. It is

now numbered in the hundreds as it traveled

around the world with many styles and systems .

For the first time there is an organization that

embraces “All as One”.

NKA has a system called KarateCare which was

developed to build character in students.

dents.

Please fill in the registration form as in our web

site if you keen to Join. Please also feel free to

telephone Kancho directly on +61 405000366

Sydney time between the hours of 9am to 5pm.

Please also note grade, style and system matters

not, what matters is the heart to help bring

change to the world through Budo.

Our Team

This team comprises of teachers within and from

different states in Australia as well as from a

number of lands. All are experienced teachers.

We will soon have them on our web site NKA

International.

Kancho Deena Naidu

He has been a hardened loyal student of Gogen

Sensei for many decades. He choose the path of

his teacher who was very happy at this and that

was teaching karate for defence only with spe-

cial emphasis on human development. The

other objectives of developing character

through Education in Human Values. His teacher

was proud of him while he was alive and I am

sure he will continue to be happy with from the

celestial planes he resides.

Now a light is about to ignite that shows it true

picture. The picture is that strong people in

uniforms only use it to defend but offer love to

the enemies. Many seem to grasp this and say

Wow! It is only the courageous who can do

this. The weak are the violent. The weak are

those whose agendas is to settle difference

with violence. In NKA students learn the sim-

ple techniques of avoidance at all costs, if

unavoidable then only physical defense will

be necessary. Such is the philosophy and

teachings of NKA.

Good afternoon! With Respect and Honor.

Very nice. I would love to come to your home

town.

We are in Botswana, Southern Africa. It will

be an honor to host you. But first I must come

for internship. Kindly advice. Great Osu and

Pula!

We can speak about how we can work to-

gether. I have a school in Cape Town and

there are interest in other parts of Africa. I

was going to come to Africa in November but

postponed till next year. Do you want to come

to Australia and practice here for a short

while. Let me know what you think?

I want to come to Australia and practice for a

while. Certainly for your African tour, invite

us to attend. Osu!

I am getting some support but we need spon-

sors to get this organised. I am happy to teach

but we need people to organise training fa-

cilities. I speak to my student in Cape Town.

Cape Town is near. . .Do you already have an

Africa rep under which one has to go

through? I want to be your direct new student.

I am looking for a representative.

To become a rep I must first seek blessings

from my teacher. I have been granted per-

mission to seek learning and new knowledge.

But first I have to become your pupil.

……………………………...

Oikado and Individual Member

Affiliations

Hanshi had instructed that all black belts

must affiliate to at least two international

organizations of their choice. The same

instruction will apply to Oikado Dojo.

Dojo are to establish partnerships and

working relationships, nationally, re-

gionally, continentally and internation-

ally. Demonstrate affiliation compliance.

Oikado must revive its National College

of Martial Arts (NCMA), Hanshi Lou An-

gel. We will submit as a collective after

which individual sensei and dojo can

affiliate and obtain dojo charters.

Hanshi was the last of the surviving ISMA

chartered instructors. Others have since

evolved and changed names and alle-

giances. The same is true for Oikiru Ryu

martial arts system. We are the only

ones who kept the inherited name of

Oikiru Ryu Karate Jitsu Dö, Oikado.

Oikado is duly registered and I am with

the World Martial Arts Council (WMAC),

under presidency of Soke GM Allen

Foster. I did ask and instruct individual

black belts to register with WMAC, it is

free.

We are also to align and a register

OMAISB with National KarateDo Acad-

emy International, under Kancho Deena

Naidu. I am a member and country rep-

resentative of NKA International. Bot-

swana is earmarked to become NKA

International Africa-hub.

There are a lot of movements and shift-

ing alliances occasioned by the drive to

have Sport Karate become an Olympic

code. Oikado must take a decision and

align itself with and make known its

affiliation in regard to Sport Karate. Uni-

fication remains a challenge.

There is also shift in dynamics in re-

gards to return to traditional KarateDo.

Our alignment with NKA International

will help us entrench traditional values

and basics.

Let me ask this AGM to endorse and

make a resolution to endorse these af-

filiations and further instructions to NEC

and TB to establish continental and inter-

national affiliations. And to establish and

create post of International Liaison Offi-

cer.

Technical Board & Standardiza-

tion

The first half of 2014 and 2015 were

characterized by high activity arising

from the Oikado Technical Board Stan-

dardization of Kihon and Kata of Oikado.

The TB was incepted 13 December 2013

and started work 3 January 2014 to pre-

sent. We are happy with the progress

they have made. To present TB has stan-

dardized Heian and Bassai Dai kata,

Magic Set Kicks ABC and kihon in

stance, block, punch and kick in addi-

tion to kihon in basic exercise regimen.

I must inform you that our focus since 2013/14

notwithstanding the planner: [1] was to em-

bark on workshops on Dojo Administration.

[2] To pursue membership to both BNSC, I

must urge your generation to take up this

issue with Ministry of Sports, Youth and Cul-

ture and further engage and put BOKA on the

spotlight! [3] Continue formalising our mem-

bership to international bodies [4] to rekin-

dle Oikado Technical Board (done) and

Other Boards [5] to establish Regional Com-

mittees [6] to develop other sections of Oi-

kado; Kung Fu Wushu, Ninjitsu-Juitsu, Weap-

ons/Kempo. It appears to me that there is lot

that needs to be done. We have been given a

go ahead to run our dojo as business entities,

gentlemen. I will soon be releasing guide-

lines towards this drive.

I am aware that our major constraint is finan-

cial resources. Ask me what has been sus-

taining me since 1979 doing martial arts and

since 1985 doing OIKADO. We initially

propagated Oikado as “Not for Sale” and as

non-profit making school. Those days are

over, gentlemen. I can assure you that our

future is looking bright. It takes resources;

human, financial, technical and infrastructure

-wise to run and operate a school, a dojo, a

grading, a Gashuku, a tournament. It takes

money to travel, to lodge and have meals. To

communicate! Understand therefore impor-

tance of having a fund as a school, as a dojo,

as a region, as a sensei with dojo and stu-

dents under your care and instruction. To that

end do enforce compliance to regular pay-

ment of annual membership and monthly

subscriptions. When your student/s cannot

meet these requirements, the sensei or dojo

owner is required to pay for them. Osu!

Ma-Oikado a mantlenyane! Kindly put your

dojo in order. Open files and train and teach

regularly as I do. You do not need 1000 stu-

dents! A dojo starts with you and you will be

lucky to get that single student.

Please I, the TB and the NEC, want to hear

from you. What are your constraints? Invite

us to your dojo for a weekend of training.

Kindly refer to year planner, I have sched-

uled certain months for dojo visits. Consult

the Toikado 2016 Planner shared with you. I

do not want to grade students I have not met

and trained with before.

In conclusion, we have embarked on strengthening

our national, regional, continental and international

relationships. These developments have opened

doors of opportunity for international involvement. To that end I urge you attend their events both at

individual level and as delegated by Oikado Martial Arts School International. Tsamayang le ye go

ithutela Refereeing and Judging. Go and get instruc-

tors’ licences as this will translate into learning competition kumite, kata and bunkai-odo in their

format and rules. That will be your challenge as it

has been since 2010 when we persued Koshiki membership.

Great Osu and Pula! Kagiso!

Khotso! Pula! Nala!

The TB meets fortnightly for either an Over-

night or All Day Gashuku. The venues for TB

are normally advertised two weeks in ad-

vance to general membership to attend and

participate in the standardization exercise.

The Overnight Gashuku 9pm-6am and Day

Gashuku 9am-5pm.

The TB has since started the Standardization

Roll Out Gashuku to general Membership

from June 2014 to present. We urge all Oika-

doka to attend. To that end TB members are

currently visiting all regions to teach and

impart the Oikado standards. We must be

quick to point out that a register is taken as

standard practice.

Oikado Awards

We shall plan for and hold Oikado Annual

Awards. Activities towards this event should

culminate with evening of awards and cere-

mony in April. April is our traditional month

for Black Belt Grading and Annual Awards.

The Secretariat will circulate the tentative

schedule of dates to all. Check your email

regularly.

Black Belt Gradings and Promotions

The majority of you in the Brown and Black

Belt ranks are due for advancement, you are

expected to submit your theory papers as

per schedule outlined to you in our last cor-

respondence and as further captured by the

2015 and 2016 Year Planners.

It is important that you inform us through

your Sensei and supervisor/sponsor about

your progress in the thesis or theory paper.

We expect that you submit drafts to your

Sensei/supervisor or to us for advice. I note

though that dojo Sensei are not communicat-

ing the level of preparedness of their stu-

dents at Black belt, Brown belt levels and

levels below. It is the duty of dojo Sensei to

inform us about their students. As noted we

shall demand a brief and a confidential re-

port on and from you to assert your relation-

ship to the grading student/s.

Candidates not meeting these and paper

submissions must be assessed rigorously

through the Black Belt Continuous Assess-

ment route. No one will be allowed to ascend

into Godan and above without submission of

theses and compliance to both parallel routes

of progression.

2015 Black Belt Grading and Promo-

tions

Grading requirements were relaxed and

opened up in 1998 and 2015. This was to ad-

dress systemic and administrative bottle-

necks that had disadvantaged majority stu-

dents. Any senior 18 years old and above and

had trained Oikado for at least 3 years was

legible to stand for grading. Beneficiaries

were identified during 2014 National Kyu

Grading and the Independence Tournament.

Others were as sponsored by dojo and sen-

sei. Only 11 of 25 Shodan candidates

graded. We are to recapture others in April

2016.

Oikado must also address the Dan rank

demographics within the school.

You will notice that when daddy graded 7th

and 8th Dan, he always opened up and re-

laxed Dan requirements and awarded hon-

orary black belts to both practicing and non

-practicing members. The current Dan num-

bers are not pleasing and competitive at

Sandan upwards. It is not good for a young

school as Oikado. We have the advantage of

time and age of our cadre. It becomes even

more difficult to grade into 6th Dan and

above. Age and years practicing, and con-

tribution become centre stage. As we affili-

ate and become members to organizations,

Dan rank hold voting power and enjoy cer-

tain privileges than country vote. Students in

the Technical Board and Regional Chiefs are

required to work hard and improve their

Dan rank to at least Godan; even then the

Grading Schedules and Minimum Time-in-

Grade will be observed, other criteria not-

withstanding.

Honorary Awards and Promotions

Similarly nominations for Honorary Awards

received poor response. Majority nominees

were from Hanshi, Kyoshi and Shihan Mot-

lalekgosi. A letter of support is required

when you nominate someone for honorary

award and promotion. Honorary awards as

are other accelerated promotions do not

wait for scheduled April Black Belt Grading

and Dan Test.

Kyu Gradings

Students, who receive regular instruction for

4/7 from an Oikado sensei and accredited

dojo, must be graded once every three (3)

months up to Green belt and must reach

brown Belt rank and stay at least 1-year in

grade at Brown belt to be considered for

Shodan. Oikado Shodan Program is a 30-

months course. Whilst here senior (18 years

old and above) White belts grading for the

first time must be promoted straight to Blue

belt.

Word’s of Wisdom by Kancho Traditional KarateDo gives You: Values on how to be as a super human being with divine qualities. An art that is the formula for success in everything you do. Mastery of body and mind to overcome fear, reckless think-ing and violent behavior. Enlightenment of who you are in the true sense. Defence of great skill to protect yourself. To become fearless no matter the challenges. An understanding that Failure is never a defeat but a means of learning. Equips the mind with great knowledge of the art. A learning of how to heal yourself and others. To use the higher regions of the mind. To equip the store age unit of mind called sub conscious mind with right information. To overcome the ego and become a true being of service. To be no violent, non aggressive, non judgmental. ( what I write hear in not a judgment but divine fact). To learn about Ki, Chi, Prana, Chakras, astral, mental, causal and the power of the mind, heart and real focus.

Kancho and I met on Facebook on 21 August 2015 and we quickly connected by a common vibration energy

that resonated well with each other. He was later to

inform me he sensed an aura of positive energy and good with me. It was the same month that my teacher of

30 years passed on. I had to search for a teacher who

will offer me and our members at Oikado continuity without need to rush us into converting and changing

our system and style to theirs.

I said to Kancho “ I am left with an empty

calabash. Like a void, an empty calabash..”

Kancho said, “You lucky you are left with

something. If you allow me, I will help you

fill it up..”.

I am happy to share with you my teacher,

A Better World is Our

Theme.

Karate is the start. We are powerful con-

tributes towards world peace.

The whole concept of Human Values is to

improve the character of the karate com-

munity. it is important for the students to

learn to value others, appreciate and ac-

cept people for who they are. As we all are

one humanity and must develop human

dignity of regard and respect towards. The

purpose of it all is avoidance rejecting,

belittling and insulting others. Taking care

of others rushing to help others in distress

is the first step forward, even where ten-

sion exists. It is so easy to ignore, looking

the other way, avoiding and thinking it is

not my problem.

Part of our human dignity is to love and we

do this with service and care. That is the

reason I called our program KarateCare.

Saying sorry if one is wrong, asking for

forgiveness if one had made a mistake in

the past. Favoring reconciliation due to

misunderstanding. Our program is about

Listening. I say to the students this means

focus on learning through listening. Listen

to what others are saying. How do you

know about others, you do this by paying

attention and be kind by lending your ear?

Today in Human life many are insensitive

and cold towards the feelings of others.

We need to care more, offer support. We

share human values daily, we tell stories

about our great heroes of human life. To-

day children are looking for role models

and mentors. They turn to starts, sports

champions etc. and many do not conduct

them self in a proper way. So we as karate

teachers want to develop students in a way

they become role models for others. By

doing this the world becomes better.

What makes us human is our inner nature of

goodness and righteousness. We as a karate

organization want to bring the best out of stu-

dents. We as teachers and as an organization

think about what are the attributes that consti-

tutes a good human person. It is kindness,

forgiveness, tolerance, compassion and love.

We want our students to develop good natures

so that they can integrate into the society or

community much better. I believe we are all

born with a divine nature and through associa-

tion and influences this can becomes good or

bad. The mind does not know how to discrimi-

nate; it is the learning that does this. And it

improves our conscious state to become better

in our ways.

We commit to serving humanity through a re-

turn to human values and we have chosen our

vehicle as KarateDo. NKA International has

been launched on 23 October 2015 and is

open for worldwide membership and affiliation

by teachers of the art to help spread and teach

the message. This ia our promise.

The OIKADO Martial Arts School is proud

to present its Grassroots Development

Program for 2010 – 2020. It is a result of

work by the OIKADO National Executive

Council and Technical Board and has em-

braced all stakeholders of the school. This

third phase of the program is set in the back-

ground of unprecedented unity and drive

demonstrated in the first phase (1995-2000)

and the second phase (2006-2010) to take

karate to the public. Recent developments in

Oikado Black Belts cadre resolve is to speak

and act in unity and also paramount to de-

liver martial arts/karate practice to the pub-

lic in a coordinated and structured way.

Crucial to the program was the appointment of a

strong and active National Technical Board headed by Kyoshi Moses Topsoil Kgosibodiba, the Presi-

dent of the School, Shihan Gaabadzo Moseki,

Chairman Technical Board. Plus eight (8) active black belts of instructorship status drawn across the

breath and length of Botswana. The Grassroots

Development Program sits alongside and

personal, educational, careers, emotional,

physical and spiritual dimensions.

The school aims to achieve these goals and in

2001-2005 & 2006-2014 we embarked on the

re-engineering exercise and increased the

number of instructors in order to expand the

program throughout the country.

The results have been dramatic, primarily

because enthusiasm for martial arts practice

and training does exist in local communities.

Martial arts/karate offers a genuine and safe

alternative and augments other performing

arts and sporting codes.

Its popularity is growing in leaps and bounds

at secondary schools, colleges and univer-

sity. It has attracted international interest.

Funds’ permitting our wish is to cascade the

program down to primary school children, to

rural communities near and remote.

Osu!

the re-engineering (1995-2005) and (2006-

2009) phases of the school.

The purpose of the program is to demon-

strate how martial arts/karate at grassroots

level will proceed from now and where it

will be by 2020.It underpins the school’s

application for funding from your good insti-

tution.

It will also serve as a valuable tool for moni-

toring and evaluating achievements against

milestones laid down. Vital to the program

success is the need to regularly review and

where appropriate make adjustments.

The Grassroots Development Program

seeks to embrace and build the key compo-

nent required to achieve Youth Develop-

ment. At the core is the desire to enable

individuals to experience as positive, fun

and free atmosphere of martial arts/karate

practice and training and go on to fulfill

their true potential in the arts and across

various areas of their development: social,

OIKADO Grassroots Development & Out-Reach Program: a summary

Page 11 S O L O M

Thank you for taking time to read and discuss

the Schools Karate Motivation Training Pro-

gram for Children and Young Teens.

Kyoshi Moses Kgosibodiba, a world class

karate trainer and instructor is now offering

Karate Motivation Training program to chil-

dren in Botswana and SADC member coun-

tries.

The program beneficiaries are children and

teens at primary (5-12yrs), junior (13-15yrs),

and senior (16-21 yrs) schools.

The program teaches martial arts/karate,

motivation and discipline to students and

have resulted in students who are fit and

much disciplined.

As every teacher knows, the benefits of a

disciplined student are enormous as they

study well at school and at home. Do and

submit their homework on time and prepare

for tests and examination in time.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The program also teaches self-confidence

and will highlight the dangers of smoking,

drug abuse and alcohol.

We believe that fit and disciplined students

will benefit the students themselves, the

school system, teachers and parents and the

community and society in which they reside.

This program takes students away from lazi-

ness, smoking, drinking and gets them in-

volved and motivated to become better stu-

dents. No other program offers such benefits!

The program will be taught and presented

by Mr. Moses Kgosibodiba, who has over 35

years experience as a world class instructor.

By this submission we wish to roll out the

program to primary, junior and senior secon-

dary schools. Funds permitting it will be our

delight for every school to be involved with

us through this program.

The program is part of the Oikado Grassroots

Kancho Deena Naidu was born in the year 1949 in South Africa. His mother gave birth to him prematurely. Kancho graduated in the Japan

Karate Do College in Tokyo in 1976, 6th in the world under Grandmaster

Gogen Yamaguchi and became the only one South African to have done so in the world. “ Gogen sensei took me in as a son”, he said.

Kancho lives in Australia in the suburb of Sydney where he runs an inter-national organization called NKA International Goshin Karate-Do. His

teaching does not involve competitions or tournaments of any kind as he

believes that this is the breeding ground for ego and competitions he be-lieves does very little to improve character or help people defend them-

selves. He says, karate has three parts: physical for body, mental for the

mind and spiritual for the heart.

His involvement in spirituality began in childhood as he has been a seeker

of truth for the major part of his life. His writing of books suddenly started on a trip to India in the 1988 and grew drawing a worldwide audience. He

has been called as guest speaker in many countries. In Japan he addressed

a crowd of over 3500 people, and many hundreds in other countries. He also spoke in New York a couple of years ago. He took part in recently in

a movie in Hollywood called “Justice for Hire”.

Kancho taught the Australian Army for two years. He was also a national

coordinator for “Vision Australia” helping people with sight impairment.

He was nominated ‘Australian of the Year”. He has now produced many

Books in hard copies: Discovering Martial Art, Budoka-True Spiritual Warriors, Poems of the Spirituaal Heart. His audio books are “Goshin-The Secret Re-

vealed”, “The Adventure of Gugu”, “My Dear Driver”, My Dear Child”, “My

Dear Student”. Kancho started an organization called “ Sanctuary 108” and have assisted many people with depression. He has saved many lives over many years

and wants to continue this effort on a world scale.

He has now started NKA International to unify the teaching of Budo to bring

martial artists together for the upliftment of human beings. To share human values

in a program called “KarateCare”. The human values are Truth, Love, Peace, Right Conduct and Non Violence.

I have been robbed. I feel this huge emptiness in me that needs to be filled. Han-

shi gave me the 'empty calabash and tasked me to fill it up. . .

09/07/2015 1:56PM

I will help you fill it up. Life is a journey Sensei, we all on this journey. You lucky

you have the calabash. Others have to find it first and then fill it up.

It will be an honor. Osu!

09/13/2015 3:27PM

Thank you for sharing. His journey begins in another dimension. But he will always

be with you.

Thank you.

09/15/2015 9:44PM

Good evening! I did ask, can you kindly share on the concept of 'Hihyo' and its use

in dojo instruction.

It is well needed as a teacher and student. Criticism is well needed. It is important

also whose knowledge you receive. Teacher and student must be humble to re-

ceive (Hihyo) Guidance. Revisiting basics, adjustments etc is important if that is

what you asking.

09/16/2015 6:06AM

Indeed. Thank you.
