Intended use CeraLong WA154 Sensor Lock-Gate The CeraLong WA154 pneumatic sensor lock-gate with ceramic sealing is used for installing a sensor for measuring process variables in liquid media. The sensor can be cleaned, calibrated or replaced under process conditions (pressure and temperature). Since the pneumatic drive unit and the process unit with the ceramic sensor lock-gate are separate modules, the drive unit can be removed and replaced under process conditions. The WA154 sensor lock-gate is suitable for the following sensors:

• type: gel elektrolyte • sensor body diameter: 12 mm • length: 425 mm • sensor head: Pg 13,5

WARNING! Installing a different sensor can pose hazards to maintenance personnel or destroy the sensor lock-gate. The manufacturer assumes no liability for damages caused by the use of different sensors.

The CeraLong WA154 sensor lock-gate allows:

• inserting and retracting the sensor under process pressure (sensor lock-gate) • calibrating or adjusting the measuring system and cleaning the sensor in the running process • removing or replacing the sensor in SERVICE position

CAUTION!

If the specifications in the user manual are not sufficient for assessing the safety of operation, e.g. because your specific applications are not described, please contact the manufacturer to make sure that the application is possible and safe. Prerequisite to safe use of the equipment is the observance of the specified ambient conditions and temperature ranges.

NOTE! Supplementary information is provided in the WA150 User Manual. The CeraLong WA154 sensor lock-gate has been developed and manufactured in compliance with the applicable European guidelines and standards. Compliance with the European Harmonized Standards for use in hazardous locations is confirmed by the EC-Type-Examination Certificate. Compliance with the European guidelines and standards is confirmed by the EC Declaration of Conformity.

To ensure smooth performance of the measuring points with the CeraLong, a number of important operating and maintenance parameters must be complied with (see Ceramat® WA150 maintenance instructions).

Build-up of the sensor lock-gate The CeraLong WA154 consists of 2 main units: drive unit and process unit. The drive unit performs the required movements to open and close the ceramic rotary slides and to move the sensor into and out of the process. The process unit comprises the ceramic sensor lock-gate with calibration chamber in the probe housing as well as the process adaptation (e.g. flange or dairy-pipe screw joint). Drive unit and process unit can be separated by the operator even under process pressure when certain safety precautions are taken. Drive unit

Installing the drive unit or separating it from the process unit (See also Ceramat® WA150 User Manual)

CAUTION! Only remove or install the drive unit when it is in SERVICE position. Be sure to follow these instructions in the correct sequence!

1. Before installing the drive unit in the process

unit, check whether the drive unit is in the SERVICE position. Only then can the drive unit be inserted sufficiently deep into the process unit so that the groove can engage with the coupling nut.

2. When installing the drive unit in the process unit, make sure that the guiding grooves of the drive unit engage with the guiding bars of the process unit (see double groove and double bar in illustration).

3. After successful alignment, you can insert the drive unit and screw the coupling nut tight until it noticeably stops. Where required, continue to press the drive unit in while screwing the coupling nut to make screwing easier. Hand tighten the coupling nut with the ZU 0648 Ceramat mounting wrench (see "Accessories" in the WA150 User Manual).

4. To remove the drive unit, follow these steps

in reverse sequence. Before removing the drive unit, check whether it is in the SERVICE position. Only then can the drive unit be removed.

Turn the drive unit so that the double bars engage with the double groove.

Specifications In this datasheet the pressure ranges specified in the technical documentation of the WA150 are extended for all material and design versions: Pressure/temperature resistance: 10 bars up to 140 °C

Process adaptation: Lapped flange 2“, 150 lbs ANSI B 16.5

Immersion depth: 300 mm (see dimension drawing)

Process-wetted materials: Stainless steel, mat. no.: 1.4404 Sensor lock-gate made of ceramic (aluminum oxide) Gaskets made of FKM

Control pressures required for the pneumatic drive of the CeraLong WA154 to reliably move the probe into measuring position against the process pressure:

Control pressure (air) [bar]

Process pressure [bar]

5 7 6 8 7 10

(For further specifications, see Ceramat® WA150 User Manual)

SPECIAL CONDITIONS! The CeraLong probe housing, which is subjected to pressure, is made of stainless steel, mat. no 1.4404. The operator is responsible for assessing the compatibility with the process medium. The CeraLong drive unit serves as a second pressure barrier for the CeraLong, i.e. when the probe housing fails, process medium will not leak out in an uncontrolled manner. Those parts of the drive unit that are subjected to pressure are made of stainless steel 1.4571. Please keep in mind that in the worst case, e.g. when the probe housing breaks, process medium may leak out of the inlet or outlet. Therefore, these must be laid in such a manner as to prevent safety hazards. In contrast to the Ceramat® WA150, the CeraLong WA154 also permits using hard flat gaskets as process sealing (flange sealing) instead of the elastomeric gaskets.

IMPORTANT NOTES! Please observe the information on cavity rinsing given in the WA150 User Manual. When installing the CeraLong with flange adaptation DN50 or ANSI 2", you must make sure that there is sufficient space for the probe housing in the flange socket and that it is not touched by weld seams or other constrictions. Special care must be taken when tightening the flange screws so as to prevent that the probe housing is canted and damaged. (See WA150 User Manual.)

Sealing kits for maintenance and servicing Some dimensions of the sealing kits for repair and maintenance as described in the WA150 User Manual are different for the CeraLong WA154. Upon request, Knick provides sealing kits with gaskets made of FKM, EPDM, FFKM (if required also with FDA approval).
