Press release Sonor, NAMM 2017 – Vintage Series Black Slate SONOR ADDS NEW FINISH TO ITS VINTAGE SERIES - Sonor brings back the magic of black in the authentic “slate” finish - Sonor, one of the world’s leading drums and percussion manufacturers, today adds the ´Black Slate´ finish to its successful Vintage Series. ´Black Slate´ provides a unique look in any playing environment, pairing the authentic looks with a classic sound. Sonor transformed the original Sonor sound, look & feel of the fabulous 50s, 60s and 70s drums into a contemporary concept: the Vintage Series. It offers great acoustic versatility, live or in the studio, allowing everything from thick rock grooves to delicate jazz rhythms. The Vintage Series comes in a variety of original wrap finishes, matching the authentic tear-drop style. At NAMM 2017, Sonor introduces ´Black Slate´, the latest addition to the Vintage series color palette. “The original Sonor Teardrop style drums featured ´Perloid´ finishes in red, blue and white. Later black was added to the range”, says Karl H. Menzel, managing director of Sonor. “Today we bring back the magic of black in the authentic “slate” finish, a unique look in any playing environment. We match the authentic looks with the classic Sonor sound”. Vintage Series - The analog sound in a digital world Like the original Teardrop drums, the Vintage Series, introduced in 2015, feature hand-selected premium German Beech shells with rounded bearing edges. Sonor has carefully recreated the look & feel of the 1950´s teardrop lug and updated it with Sonor´s exclusive Tunesafe system. Being sure not to overlook any details, Sonor has redesigned the Superprofil triple flanged hoops and brought back the timeless Sonor badge and logo used in between 1952 and 1961. The hoop is an authentic remake of the hoop used on all Tom Toms, Floor Toms and Snare Drums built by Sonor until the 1970´s. Vintage snare drums feature the `Super 50` throw off, a completely redesigned strainer that is inspired by the throw off used on the legendary Sonor D-411 and D-412 snares in the 1950´s. Vintage bass drums and shell sets are available with the re-issue of the classic ´iron´-shape bracket, which fits all Sonor single and double tom holders.
