Purpose:This document provides labeling and packaging instructions for the Palm Pilot Modem.

bill of materials.

1.0 PROCESS:

7.1 This section describes the labeling and packaging procedure for the Palm Pilot Modem. Specific part

numbers are available in the bill of material.

7.1.1 Perform this operation only on an ESD grounded work bench. Operator must be groundedat all times. Use gloves or finger cots when handling all components.

7.1.2. The labeling operation uses a software package that exists on the labeling station computer.

That software is accessed by picking the "BARONE PRINT" icon on the desktop, then pickingF7 on the menu that appears.

7.1.3 The F7 button causes the next menu to appear. Choose the SMART3.lbl option and press OK.The number that you will be scanning and printing will appear in the next window.

The latest scanned label numberappears here.

After this window is activated, it is left on the screen for continuously refreshed display of the latestserial number scanned.

7 .1.4 The Palm Pilot Modem is labeled at a station configured as shown below.The flow of work through the station is from left to right as viewed by the operator.

7. 1.5 The operator scans the label of a modem taken from the input box. This operation will prompt thelabel maker to produce a packaging label for this particular modem.

7.1.6 Insert the modem as shown. Remove the protective adhesive strip from the package andfold the package over on itself to glue the flap shut.

7.1.9 Return to steps 7.1.5 through 7.1.8 and repeat the packaging process until the first eggcrate has

been filled.7.1.10 When the first eggcrate has been filled, insert the false bottom as shown.

Insert the second eggcrate on top ofthe false bottom and begin the packaging operation againAs described in steps 7.1.5 through 7.1.8.

7.1.11 Continue with the labeling and packaging process until every slot in the second layer has beenfilled except for the last three rows. This leaves ten spaces left to be filled. The last ten packaged

units require special handling as described in the next step.
