BACKGROUND

SingHealth Investigational Medicine Unit (IMU) is an early phase clinical research unit, which supports the research of commercial partners and investigators. The unit is located at Block 7, Level 7 of Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and provides services to facilitate:

De�ning the future of medicine through the conduct of early phase clinical research

Translating innovations into improved patient care

Educating and training researchers in early phase clinical trial research ethics and methodology

Developing thought leadership through research innovations

Proof of concept, '�rst-in-man' or early stages of clinical development of investigational drugs, vaccines and devices

Identi�cation and validation of novel disease biomarkers

PET, CT and MRI facilities

Nuclear medicine

Investigational and chemotherapy pharmacy services

CAP-certi�ed pathology laboratories

CORE STRENGTHS

We specialise in early phase clinical research. Our projects are supported by a team of dedicated and well-trained Clinical Research Coordinators, Clinical Research Nurses and Resident Physicians. The unit specialises in studying diseases that impact patients in Asia, including:

Conducting trials that adhere to Singapore-Good Clinical Practice, supported by a robust healthy volunteer database

Two-bed chronobiology suite, managed by Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore

Internal Quality Assurance (QA) system

Clinical pharmacology and pharmacogenetic testing

2-8oC, -30oC and -80oC refrigerators with 24/7 electronic temperature logs linked to a central alarm system

Ms Sue Tee, Director, Administration & Operations, Investigational Medicine Unit, SingHealth.

In addition to her role in Administration and Operations at Investigational Medicine Unit, SingHealth, Sue holds the Director, Clinical Trials Development role in SingHealth. Her extensive knowledge of the clinical trials scene enables her to assist in collaborations among multi-sites. In this capacity, she serves as a liaison between the biopharmaceutical companies and SingHealth institutions.

DIRECTOR’S BIO

Assoc. Prof Darren Wan-Teck Lim, Director of Investigational Medicine Unit, SingHealth and Senior Consultant, Division of Medical Oncology, National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS).

Assoc. Prof Lim is also co-group leader at the NCCS-MPI-IMCB laboratory at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB) Singapore. He is Associate Professor at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore and adjunct clinical tutor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. His clinical interests are in lung, thyroid, and head and neck cancers. His research interests are in early phase clinical trials with developmental biological correlates.
