The SAMmicro has been designed and manufactured for Conveyor Control & Monitoring but can also be used for other applications where noise monitoring is required. This latest version of the SAM module uses surface mount and micro controller technology along with a wide range input power supply & sensitivity range.The addition of the micro-controller and improved power supply has provided additional features such as reverse polarity protection, in-built surge protection, low current consumption, and normal/faulty and trip status indication. The SAM is also temperature compensated.The SAM is fully adjustable from the front between 70db-125db (140db optional) providing greater access when mounted inside enclosures and/or sounders.The Australian Conveyor Standard (AS1755) requires that conveyors be fitted with an Audible Pre- Start Alarm (PSA) throughout the length of the conveyor. The Standard also requires that the Pre- Start Alarm is either monitored or a regular inspection regime put in place to ensure the PSA is functioning properly. Obviously, to carry out regular manual inspections on long overland conveyor installations can be a time consuming and costly exercise. The SAM module was designed to overcome the need to carry out these inspections by monitoring the sound output (db level) of each sounder independently during the start up sequence. The unit is configured to be Fail-Safe i.e. if there is no supply at the Sounder, or the sound level is below the set point, the contacts will not close. The SAM module is conveniently sized to fit inside almost any brand of sounder. Designed as a fail-safe device, when the sounder is switched ON, the SAM module detects the output sound and closes its contact. The contact can be used to provide positive feedback into the monitoring system that the PSA sounder/s are operating correctly.
