Global PGM reserves were 2.4 billion ounces in January 2015, with South Africa accounting for 91.4% of this total, followed by Zimbabwe, Russia and the US with 4.1%, 1.6% and 1.3% respectively. Global platinum mine production measured an estimated 6.3 million ounces in 2014, down by 4.3% compared with 2013, but it is expected to recover in 2015. Production at the Impala mine was 709,200 ounces in 2013, while the Marikana mine produced 706,000 ounces. The Zimbabwean Zimplats mine produced 198,100 ounces.
