History• Proposed new town of Northstowe,
promoted by Gallagher Estates and the new Homes and Communities Agency
• The development is to be an “exemplar”in sustainability and has been labelled a “proto-type Eco-Town”

Total development area: 432 hectares, divided into:
• 189 hectares for residential development (population of 24,000, accommodated within 9,500 new homes)
• 14 hectares of employment floorspace
• 23 hectares for town and local centres• 22 hectares for schools (6 primary
and 1 secondary)• The remainder of the land will
primarily be open space with proposed sports grounds and play areas.

Public Transport Initiative Completion of the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway
(CGB) Proposed to link Huntingdon to Cambridge City
Centre, following parallel route to the A14 along disused railway
Stops will be located at all major settlements along the route
Northstowe to be built to make full use of the CGB with 5 dedicated stops through the development
Expected to cause a reduction in private vehicle journeys and improve the A14
Expected to open Spring 2009
