5.3.1 Track & X Country Meet Funding Moose Jaw Invitational Meet Sat. May 7, 2011

5.3.2 Delay in Officials PaymentsProposal: we have bills for our officials that have been submitted and are delayed in being paid by Prairie South. We have about $10,000. worth of bills to be paid to officials…2 and half months and still not paid. MOTION: That the South Central District Athletic Association loan $5000.00 to the South Central

meeting.

- Team travel and weather: Schools need to have conversations about student’s safety, which is our number one concern. When do schools allow teams to travel to tournaments/competitions: need to look at weather and mode of travel use of busses as opposed to vehicles, drivers, time of departure and return.

5.4.2 Cost of hosting SHSAA events

- Cost of caretaking: is an expense in Moose Jaw Schools,

- Who is covering the cost and who is getting the profit or the loss?

- Different in rural and city.

- The rural usually make money. Most of their profit comes from the canteen.

- Seems to be an urban problem. Moose Jaw hosts way more tournaments, regional’s, conferences, provincials, etc. than the rural areas.

- Can we apply to the city for special events funding: Larry will look into it.

- Question: cost sharing: when we host a competition we don’t have to pay to send our athletes/teams, this is a cost saving to our divisions. Is there a portion of those funds that we can re-allocate back to our schools who are hosting?Suggestion: That Larry, Roger and Troy work on a proposal to send to Barb C to take to the board to see if we can change how funding is done in these situations. Should money also be coming from Caronport, Cornerstone and Vanier?
