Design Inspiration
South Lanarkshire College in East Kilbride is one of Scotland’s most successful further education colleges, offering a wide range of programmes from accounting and administration to construction and horticulture, providing a robust success platform for its students.
The design for this project centred around energy efficiency, and one of the main goals of the project was to lower the college’s carbon footprint. Kingspan’s Rooftop Solar PV System was the perfect solution.

Superior Energy Performance
South Lanarkshire College installed a 70.56 kWp solar PV system in order to reduce energy consumption and electricity costs. The system is expected to generate 56,377 kWhr/ kWp per annum. The total annual offset of CO2 is expected to be around 29,147 kg.
The installation of this system is part of South Lanarkshire College’s commitment to green energy generation. As a result, the college has received an outstanding BREEAM rating and has been shortlisted in the 2016 BREEAM awards.

Faster Construction
The Kingspan Rooftop Solar PV System installed on this project consists of 294 solar pv modules and covers over 460m² of the roof space. Despite this, the system was installed in just one week and the project was fully completed in June 2013.
