In Food Security and Public Safety :
Many valuable projects realized but few of them delivers results that are used on a long term
Often due to a lack or inadequate business model
Dependency to funding or grants
Facilitate the trading of geospatial information

Two thematics
Public Safety in Belgium ○ Prevention and intervention planning in application of the EU SEVESO 3
Directive to hazardous sites;
○ Ground instability (subsidence) monitoring and impact assessment in the areas of ancient and current underground activities (old coal mines, geothermal drilling, lime quarries, etc);
Food Security in Senegal ○ Land tenure delimitation and registration in rural areas
○ Crop monitoring and yield and harvest forecast at local level
○ Food balancing between abundance and deficit areas.

Computer science students from the UK’s University of Bristol Julian Laval, Anda Truta, Alex Dantis and Alex Dumitrescu took home the ESA prize with the app FarmIQ at the 2015 ESA App Camp in Barcelona.
The app harnesses the power of Earth observation and agricultural big data to provide state-of-the-art crop monitoring, predictive monitoring and advance warnings of potential problems.
