Winners of the National FFA Par liamentary Procedure Leadership Development Event (LDE) were announced on Friday, October 27 at the annual awards banquet. The event was held in conjunction with the 90th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis. Shelby Carlton, Madison Dvorak, Autumn Jackson, Logan Jewell, Amber Hanna, and Jacob Yelvington placed 3rd in the Nation. In addition, because Shelby, Jake, Autumn, Amber, and Maddie scored so high on the written Parliamentary exam, they are official certified parliamentarians and are were also
given membership in the National Associa-tion of Parliamentarians. Cody Clark received the America De-gree, the highest degree that can be earned by an FFA member.
The Nursery and Landscape team which consisted of Blair Buchanon, Nick Lewis, Lauryn Garner, and Madyson Keim also competed at nationals. They are a national
ranked silver team. They had to take a written test and perform in 9 of 27 different practicums that they've been preparing for months. Chris Mango, Johnny Lewis, and Amanda Lawson ac-cepted our National Chapter 2 star award which was given to our FFA chapter for their service projects and accomplishments throughout the year. We are so very proud of these students for their hard word and dedication, said Mrs. Morse, Mrs. Childress and Mr. Cornelius.

KHS Students Paying It Forward
Issue 11, October 30, 2017
Mrs. Garcia and a group of amazing KHS students helped last weekend pack care packages for families in Puerto Rico. “They were an amazing workforce. They even took charge and trained other volunteers on the tasks needed. I was a proud mama/teacher, said Mrs. Garcia.”

Planes Fundraisers
Congratulations to the Members of the Pride of Kathleen Marching Band. This month at the District marching festival, the Pride earned an overall excellent rating which is one rating high-er than the band had earned over the past two years. “I am very proud of all the band members and congratulate each and every one of them for their hard work and determination over this marching season,” said Mr. Lagg.
We are so fortunate to have Retired MSgt Xavi-era McFadden as part of the KHS family. She was in the USAF for 22 years. She has a B.S. in Social Psychology and M.A. in Occupational Safety and Health . She is happily married with two children. Outside of her wonderful teach-ing career, she is a business own-er. Welcome!
Welcome our very own Master Sergeant Xaviera McFadden
