Despite having financial constraints she filmed by doing crowd funding and won a bronze prize in a screenplay contest. Ms. Lamberg then gave an insight of her challenges of shooting in different landscapes of Finland and Australia. The day-3 of CIFFI2019 began with the screening of critically acclaimed

For the second master-class of CIF-FI2019, eminent filmmakers from Mumbai, Mr. Prince Shadwal and Mr. Raj Gupta graced Studio-62 of DME with their presence. The session commenced with the felicitation ceremony of the guests by Mr. Aman Sahni, Vice Chairman, DME and Prof. (Dr.) Ambrish Saxena, Dean, DME Media School.

The screening of a 20 minute Marathi short film- ‘Dhaaga’, written by Mr. Shadwal and directed by Mr. Gupta, marked the master-class. It was followed by an interactive

discussion. The young filmmakers gave an insight of Bollywood and discussed various aspects of it.

The entire master class spiraled around the regional cinema, its growing market and influence on India. “The OTT platforms have contributed majorly in the rise and spread of regional cinema all across the nation,” said Mr. Gupta.

Mr. Shadwal mentioned that Bollywood adaptations of regional films are very common nowadays. “People are more open to other cultures and language because of

their exposure to internet,” he added.Both Mr. Shadwal and Mr. Gupta discussed the different styles of content projections of Bollywood and regional cinema, and the rich-ness, originality and strong content of the latter.

To make the session more interac-tive and less of a lecture, the two filmmakers opened the house for discussion. The master-class con-cluded with the audience ands experts discussing about the future aspects of the regional cinemas in the country and worldwide.

The second workshop of Cineaste International Film Festival of India- CIFFI2019 was conducted by Ms. Savita Oberoi on the third day of the international event. The workshop was held in the Studio 62 and was also attended by class IX students of Mayoor School, Noida.

The workshop started with the screening of a biographical documentary film made by Ms. Oberoi, i n d e p e n d e n t filmmaker, Aquarius Productions.

The film was based on the legendary Indian director and film producer, Yash Chopra. It showcased his life and career and included the

opinions of renowned celebrities of Indian cinema like Javed Akhtar and Anupam Kher.

Following the screening, Ms. Savita Oberoi interacted with the students present in the studio. She also gave a brief idea about filmmaking and the role of pre-production and production in it and mentioned that she is still a student at heart who loves to learn.

The workshop was informative and entertaining. It gave all the students a glimpse into the world of filmmaking.

Third day of the festival comprised of a curate session on science films conducted by Mr. Nimish Kapoor, scientist and Head, Science Film Division, Vigyan Prasar.

Mr. Kapoor began the session stating that science journalism is often neglected. He discussed topics like oral cancer, female foeticide, global warming and talked about the challenging work of a journalist. Mr. Kapoor wrapped up the session by answering queries of the students with the help of Mr. Jalaludin Baba, an independent filmmaker from Kashmir.

Mr. Baba then continued with competitive and independent screenings of the day, along with Mr. Amir Hussain Lone, a Paralympic cricket player. In the competitive category, 7 films were screened. ‘End of the beginning’ by Amit Mathur received huge applause from the audience. It portrayed how people fall prey to drug addiction during

their hard times and urged people to avoid it. Short animated films were also screened on day-3. Finally, ‘The Teenage Kicks’, directed by Craig Boreham was screened on day in Studio 62. The award winning Australian film gave a glimpse of Australian teenage culture and was enjoyed thoroughly by the audience.
