AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY

ADMINISTRATIVE ARRANGEMENTS

I, Kate Carnell, Chief Minister for the Australian Capital Territory -

(a) revoke all existing Administrative Arrangements;

(b) pursuant to section 43 of the Australian Capital Territory (Self-Government) Act1988 of the Commonwealth -

(i) allocate to a Minister referred to in the first column of the Schedule, mattersrelating to the powers of the Executive as follows :

(A) the responsibility of governing the Territory with respect to thematters specified in the second column of the Schedule oppositethe reference to that Minister;

(B) the responsibility of executing and maintaining the enactmentsspecified in the third column of the Schedule opposite thereference to that Minister, and the subordinate laws under thoseenactments;

(C) the responsibility of exercising the powers vested in the Executiveby the laws of the Commonwealth in force in the Territory listed inthe third column of the Schedule opposite the reference to thatMinister; and

(D) the responsibility of exercising prerogatives of the Crown so far asthey relate to the Executive’s responsibility mentioned inparagraph (A), (B) or (C); and

(ii) authorise any Minister to act on my behalf or on behalf of any otherMinister;

(c) pursuant to section 13 of the Public Sector Management Act 1994 of the Territory -

(i) establish the administrative units referred to in the fourth column of theSchedule;

(ii) place the Chief Executive referred to in the fifth column of the Schedule incontrol of the administrative unit or units referred to in the fourth columnof the Schedule opposite that reference; and

(d) pursuant to section 14 of the Public Sector Management Act 1994 of the Territory -

(i) allocate to the Minister referred to in the first column of the Scheduleresponsibility for the administrative unit or units referred to in the fourthcolumn of the Schedule opposite that reference; and

(ii) allocate to an administrative unit referred to in the fourth column of theSchedule responsibility for -

(A) the matters referred to in the second column of the Scheduleopposite that reference; and

(B) the enactments referred to in the third column of the Scheduleopposite that reference.

(e) These Administrative Arrangements come into operation on 29 June 2000.

In the Schedule “(Cmlth)” means “of the Commonwealth”.
