Description of Opthalmic Drug Delivery

• Pharmaceutical preparations applied topically in the eye to treat surface or intraocular conditions.

• This includes the bacterial, fungal and viral infections of the eye or eyelids; conjunctivitis; ocular hypertension and glaucoma ;and dry eye.

• The limited capacity of the eyes to retain liquid-normal volume: 7-8 µL-when not blinking: 30 µL-when blinked: 10 µL

• Ways of application-dropwise -flushing/bathing
