In this course we explore the           ‘fun’damentals of theatre, including       tableau, sound, movement, voice,       scriptwriting, technical theatre,     improvisation, and finally, a full class           production! Prerequisite: none. 

  In this course, we explore how drama is               used in pop culture, and social justice             movements. We continue to explore the           fundamentals further including prop       creation, script analysis, movement       through yoga, and a final class           production.  Prerequisite: none.  

Grade 11 Open and Grade 12 Workplace             (ADA3O1 & ADA4E1): 

  Grade 11 & 12, College/University    (ADA3M1 & ADA4M1): 

In this course we attend performances,           develop character range, create       interactive theatre through puppetry,       and put on a final production. Students             will understand the different       responsibilities in theatre and learn to           take risks. Prerequisite for ADA3O1: none. Prerequisite for ADA4E1: ADA3O1 

  In this course students explore various           media forms where theatre is used,           attend various performances, develop       character range, understand how       theatre is a vehicle for social change,             perform an original piece, and create           an ensemble piece. Prerequisite for ADA3M1: ADA1O1 or ADA2O1 Prerequisite for ADA4M1: ADA3M1 

    

Grade 10 & 11, Open  (ADC2O1 & ADC3O1):

In this course, students explore the           many jobs of a tech crew member,             including preparing a stage, setting up           lighting and sound, designing and         creating props for productions, and         preparing different spaces for various         events. Students will get an         opportunity to be the lead technician           during an assembly, host outside         permits, and be a part of many exciting               after school events as BMTM’s Tech           Crew. Prerequisite for ADC2O1: none. Prerequisite for ADC3O1: none. 

  This course continues building on tech           crew responsibilities while adding new         opportunities. Students may get paid to           host outside permits! Students in this           course will solve more complex         problems and be given more         independent responsibilities. Students     in this course are also expected to             become a mentor for the younger           members of BMTM’s Tech Crew. They           will also explore tech career         opportunities. Prerequisite for ADC3M1: ADC2O1 or ADC3O1 Prerequisite for ADC4M1: ADC3M1

  Explore the art of performing with,           and composing for, small musical         ensembles. Get better at your         instrument, or learn a new one.           Collaborate with other musicians       and hone your musicianship skills.         This course emphasizes the creation         and performance of music at a level             consistent with previous experience,       and is aimed at developing         techniques, sensitivity, and     imagination.   Expand your musical abilities while         performing in a variety of musical           styles. This course provides an emphasis           on composing and improvising in a small             ensemble setting. Sing in the shower? Share your voice             with the world! This course emphasizes           the creation and performance of vocal           music in both choral and solo settings.             No experience necessary; all       backgrounds welcome! Prerequisite: none. 

  Take your singing to the next level by               developing on previous vocal       experience. Develop your voice, learn         how to sing with others, and explore a               range of styles in solo and choir             settings. Perform at community       events. Take on a leadership role on             stage and in the classroom. Help           conduct, accompany, and make       interpretive decisions. Want to change the world? Scripts are instruments for social change. Watch                       your plays come to life and challenge yourself by potentially directing them for                         the stage. Watch your voice come alive! Explore script forms, conventions and                       styles. Enter your plays into drama competitions like the award-winning SEARS                     Drama Festival!   This course invites students to a           deeper understanding of their faith         through the arts. Using the         Beatitudes, the students will       examine attitudes and actions       through drama. Students write and         create their own productions that         are relevant and demonstrate their         faith.  Prerequisite: none. 

  Have you ever wondered what the ‘Word’             really meant? Word is an ACTION and that               means YOU on the street, with a camera               ready to inform, educate and expose by             creating unique and powerful social justice           video documentaries. Bring Catholic       Justice Teachings off the page and to the               silver screen! Be part of the annual Just               Doc’s Festival held at the Revue Cinema.  Prerequisite: HRE1O1 or HRE1O2 

  Grade 11, College/University  (HRT3M2): 

  Grade 12, College/University (HRT4M2): 

  Open your eyes and hearts to our             Global Village as we explore World           Religions from an artistic viewpoint.         Celebrate the art, music and ritual           of the Great World Religions         through dance, drama & visual arts           by creating a multimedia       production that transports you into         the Great Religions of our times.  Prerequisite: HRE2O1 or HRE2O2 

  This course is directed toward the clear             identification of Catholic moral principles         and the concrete application of these           principles in the lives of students. The             course will provide students with the           needed knowledge, skills, values, and         attitudes that assist them in making moral             decisions in their ongoing faith journey.           Special attention is given to the interaction             between the Church and culture through           the creation of several films that students             will produce over the term. Student work             will be presented at the ‘Just Docs’ film               festival at the end of the school year. Prerequisite: HRE3M1 or HRT3M2 

  

Canadian and World Studies - Grade 10, Academic (CHC2D2):  

 

Since the invention of motion pictures, Canadian history, culture and identity have                       been linked. Some would argue that more people learn about history in the movie                           theatres and by watching television than from textbooks. We agree!  Prerequisite: none.

The tactile art of analog photography           provides a unique way for students to             learn about themselves and the world           around them. Students learn about the           historical impact of photography from         past to present. Through the power of             patience and observation, students       produce their own works and         communicate their insights while       developing artistic skills and aesthetic         judgement. (Studio Fee) Prerequisite: none. 

  Grade 12 photography provides       hands-on activities from analog to         digital photography that challenge       students to move from the concrete           to the abstract. Students learn that,           while photography can be       enjoyable and fulfilling, it is also an             intellectually rigorous discipline.     This course encourages students to         take risks, to solve problems in           original ways, and to develop their           ability to think critically as well as             creatively. (Studio Fee) Prerequisite: AWQ3M1

  Grade 9, Open (AVI1O1):    Grade 10, Open (AVI2O1): 

  Do you want to make artwork that             impresses and surprises your friends         and family? Don’t be afraid, this course             will act as a foundation for further             study. Come learn how to draw, paint             and sculpt. This course is exploratory           in nature; students will be exposed to a               variety of media, processes and         techniques with a focus on the           Elements and Principles of Design.  Prerequisite: none. 

  If you took Visual Arts in grade 9 you                 will increase your magic power to           create something out of nothing.         Taking Visual Art for the first time?             Don’t be worry! Students will develop           their skills in producing art, you will             be introduced to new ideas, materials           and processes. Learn how to draw,           paint and sculpt. Prerequisite: none. 

  Grade 11, Open (AVI3O1):    Grade 11, College/University (AVI3M1): 

  This course is for the visual artists at               heart who like to practise art. We             review the Elements and Principles of           Design and create some amazing         works, including silk screen printing of           your hero’s portrait and a sculpture           made out of recycled material. The           focus is on studio activities including           drawing, painting, printmaking and       special projects. This course will NOT           prepare you for the grade 12           College/University course.  Prerequisite: AVI1O1 or AVI2O1 

  This course enables students to         further develop their knowledge and         skills in visual arts. Students will use             the creative process to explore a wide             range of themes through studio work.           Studio activities will include drawing,         painting, sculpting and printmaking.       This course will prepare you for the             Grade 12 College University course.  Prerequisite: AVI 1O1 or AVI 2O1 

  Grade 12, Workplace (AVI4E1):    Grade 12, College/University (AVI4M1): 

  You will be developing your skills and             knowledge of painting, drawing and         sculpting. All you need is a Grade 11               Visual Art credit and a desire to create.               This course focuses on a variety of             mediums. This credit can be used           towards a lifetime of doodling and           impressing your friends with your         skills.   Prerequisite: AVI 3O1 

  You took AVI3M1 and loved it. Are you               considering a post- secondary       program that requires a portfolio? You           will continue to work in your           sketchbook developing ideas that turn         into fantastic art works. The creative           process is stressed, as you develop           your skills and personal style. You will             paint, draw, carve soapstone and         explore media of your choosing.  Prerequisite: AVI 3M1

Audition: Solo piece 

★ To prepare for the dance, select a piece of music and send it to either:  ○ [email protected] or; ○ [email protected] or; ○ Bring it on your own phone (ensure you bring the correct cables) 

★ Prepare and perform a one minute dance choreography to demonstrate your                     creativity and self expression. 

★ Be prepared to be directed.  

Interview: 

★ You will be interviewed by one or two teachers, including a Dance teacher. ★ Be prepared to explain why you are interested in studying Dance. ★ Be prepared to discuss your strengths and challenges as a dancer. ★ The purpose of the interview is to determine your skillset, but more                       

importantly, your motivation and potential.

★ This process is not intended to intimidate. ★ What we are looking for in you as a dance student is someone who is open to

★ To prepare for the monologue, choose any monologue you would like and prepare it as a polished piece of theatre. 

★ Choose a monologue that bests suits your strengths and interest. ★ Quality is more important than length, but aim for a minimum of one minute. ★ You may wish to bring a prop or costume piece with you to help authenticate 

your work . ★ Be prepared to be directed. 

 

Interview: 

★ You will be interviewed by one or two teachers, including a Drama teacher. ★ Be prepared to explain why you are interested in studying Drama. ★ Be prepared to discuss your strengths and challenges as an actor. ★ The purpose of the interview is to determine your skillset, but more                       

importantly, your motivation and potential.

Students interested in Vocal music are asked to prepare two songs of their choice,                           of contrasting styles, to be performed a cappella .  Students interested in Instrumental music are asked to prepare, on an instrument                       of their choice, two musical excerpts of contrasting styles.  Students interested in Composition are asked to provide a sample of an original                         work, either in the form of a score or a recording.

★ You will be interviewed by one or two teachers, including a Music teacher. ★ Be prepared to explain why you are interested in studying Music. ★ Be prepared to discuss your strengths and challenges as a musician. ★ The purpose of the interview is to determine your skillset, but more

★ Each student will be required to present their portfolio.  ★ A sketchbook of recent work should be included.  ★ All portfolio work should be original, not copied from photographs of other                       

artists’ works.  ★ Artworks should demonstrate the student’s creativity and skill.  ★ Approximately 6-8 works ★ Organize your works for optimum presentation 

 

Interview:
