ScalabilityVISIONMASTER FT is configurable to meet the shipowner’s specific requirements. It’s easy to select whatever level of sophistication is needed for a specific ship, from a standard type-approved radar up to a complete integrated bridge system. The products can easily be upgraded with new software and applications. An upgrade path is built into each system, so it can be quickly and inexpensively upgraded from a stand-alone radar to a chart radar to an ECDIS or a complete TotalWatch multi-function workstation. You can even add optional capabilities, such as automatic chart downloads, integrated weather routing and remote diagnostics capability, as your needs grow. This means your investment is secure — whatever the future may bring.

CommonalityVISIONMASTER FT products are designed with common hardware platforms and PC-based architecture with simplified human-machine interface software. Menus and operating procedures are similar throughout the VISIONMASTER FT range. VISIONMASTER FT CHART RADARThe VISIONMASTER FT Chart Radar is a software kit upgrade for the VISIONMASTER FT radar, and incorporates all the standard features of the stand-alone radar. This electronic chart capability can be retrofitted without hardware modifications.

The Chart Radar provides electronic charting capability integrated with the radar picture for additional functionality

and enhanced safety at sea. It is designed to display electronic charts in vector format. Charts may be uploaded through a supplied CD reader or optionally through the VisionMaster gateway connected to a broadband communications link.

VISIONMASTER FT RADARThe VISIONMASTER FT range of navigation radars are the heirs of the well-known and widely respected BridgeMaster radar products, which have established an unmatched reputation for reliability and performance in the marine industry. With VISIONMASTER FT, Sperry Marine moves the bar to an even higher standard. The result is the world’s most dependable and advanced series of high-performance ARPA/radars, providing the ultimate in safe navigation and situation awareness for watch officers and optimum return on investment for shipowners.

The new VISIONMASTER FT ARPA/radar is fully compatible with BridgeMaster E antenna and transceiver configurations, and can easily be retrofitted into existing BridgeMaster

E installations. You can choose either a full stand-alone console or a “kit” for remote installation of the electronics in existing cabinetry. Up to six transceivers and displays can be interswitched. The VISIONMASTER FT dual-channel option permits data from two separate transceivers to be integrated for display on a single screen.

The VISIONMASTER FT radars incorporate as a standard feature a sophisticated automatic clutter suppression technology for watchstanders to identify small weak targets in the presence of sea or rain clutter even when sailing near large land masses without manually adjusting gain and clutter controls.

VISIONMASTER FT ECDISThe VISIONMASTER FT ECDIS provides a

complete IMO-compliant Electronic Chart Display and Information System and meets the

requirements for navigating without paper charts when installed with a backup ECDIS.

The system’s Universal Chart Manager is designed to work with a broad range of authorized vector and raster charts, including S57, C-Map, BA, ARCS

and PRIMAR. Charts may be downloaded through a supplied CD reader or optionally through the VisionMaster gateway connected to a broadband communications link.

The VISIONMASTER FT ECDIS features navigation bars and menus which disappear when not in use, to optimize full-screen viewing of the chart display while ensuring that important navigational data is not hidden behind information windows and menus. The split-screen capability permits two independent charts to be shown simultaneously or display of two different chart scales for an area of interest. An innovative picture-in-picture feature allows for viewing a specified area at a user defined size on the ECDIS display.

The user can quickly create and store multiple voyage plans, which can be edited at any time during the voyage without interrupting the navigation process. The ECDIS automatically correlates targets with radar and AIS to minimize mistaken identity. The conning information display shows all important navigation data in a clear easy-to-read format. Radar functions can be controlled from the ECDIS console, and AIS ship data can be entered through the ECDIS for convenience.

VISIONMASTER FT TOTALWATCH Multi-Function Workstation

VISIONMASTER FT TotalWatch is a true multi-function workstation that can display any VISIONMASTER FT modes – radar, chart radar or ECDIS – as well as other shipboard systems such as machinery monitoring information, alarms and CCTV. The console design is identical to all other VISIONMASTER FT systems.

The user can configure any TotalWatch workstation for any function quickly and easily, using the on-screen iWatch mode selector. With TotalWatch, the master or officer can create any combination of bridge layouts to suit the navigational situation, such as inshore piloting, open sea navigation, docking or anchoring. This added capability improves operational efficiency and enhances the safety margin.

Any combination of VISIONMASTER FT radars, chart radars, ECDIS and TotalWatch can be used to create a flexible integrated bridge system bringing together all the ship’s navigation sensors and systems into a modern, efficient, ergonomic bridge layout.
