What is the Performing Arts?

Performing arts refers to forms of art in which artists use their voices, bodies or inanimate objects to convey artistic expression!

Welcome to the Thespian Honors Club

◦ where we will meet to practice and enjoy the theater arts

◦ not only of drama but

◦ set constructions,

◦ acting,

◦ readings

◦ and participation in volunteer service events.

◦ This year we will incorporate workshops designed to teach the crafts associated with theater, including

◦ acting,

◦ set design and construction,

◦ lighting and sound design (if possible).

Participation◦ In order to qualify as a member in

good standing by the end of the year you must have attended 80% of the meetings, fulfilled your service requirements and participated in at least two of the Thespian events.

◦ Through participation in school theatrical productions, students earn points which qualify them for awards and recognition at our ceremony at the end of the year.

◦ Participation in the Thespian Honor Society is helpful in the college application process.

Introduction◦ This coming year I anticipate an active and event-

filled year for the Thespian Honors Club.

◦ Despite the limitations of the Covid-19 pandemic, I know that our TERRA students will not only prevail but conquer the obstacles of on-line meetings and social distancing.

Introduction◦ However, if You DO join the club, attendance to the

meetings is mandatory if you wish to participate in the events throughout the year.

◦ Participation in at least TWO volunteer service events hosted by the club is also mandatory.

Events

Holiday parties, Readings, Flipgrid short takes, Christmas round House and more

Participation

Election of Officers, Meetings, Division into categories of theater arts based on preference

Divisions of Performing Arts

Performing arts may include dance, music, opera, theatre and musical theatre, magic, illusion, mime, spoken word, puppetry, circus arts, performance art.

Volunteer Service

Members are expected to attend a minimum of two volunteer service events hosted by the club to maintain their good status within the club.

Monthly Timeline-

Thursdays

1st Week

• Officers Meeting: Officers will be meeting with Sponsor to go over the monthly activities, take care of paperwork and plan for future activities.

2nd Week

• General Meeting-All members must attend and participate in the meeting.

3rd Week

• Event Meeting- Only for those participating in the monthly volunteer service event scheduled for that month.
