“I had a lot of good memories (ofbeing in Colorado Springs). We wonthe first half, when we were downthere, we had a really good team.A lot of really good guys on the team.A lot of guys who were focused andtaught me how to win and be aggressive at the plate. I enjoyed mytime down there....” - Todd Helton (1996 - 97)

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox are the Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies and play in 8,500 seat Security Service Field.

The Sky Sox franchise is an original member of the Pacific Coast League, which was founded in 1903. The franchise operated in Portland, OR (Browns 1903-1917) was relocated to Sacramento, CA (Solons 1918-1960) was relocated again to Honolulu, HI (Islanders 1961-1987) then moved to Colorado Springs (1988 -present). The name “Sky Sox” was adopted in honor of Colorado Springs’ Western League Sky Sox (Class A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox) that played at Memo-rial Park from 1950 through 1958. When Colorado was awarded a Major League franchise, the new Rockies arranged for the Sky Sox to become their AAA affiliate. From 1993 through the present, Colorado Springs has been the top affiliate of the Colorado Rockies.

During the calendar year the Sky Sox Community Relations Department makes over 200 appearances in the Southern Colorado and greater Colorado Springs community. Some of these events include the Sky Sox reading program, player appearances, mascot events and speaking engagements. In addition, through donations, letters and correspondence the Sky Sox are part of over 220 more events.

Highlights from the 2011 season included a dramatic increase in the number of students enrolled in the Sky Sox reading program. The program had just over 4,000 students in the 2010 season, and had over 7,000 during the 2011 season! The program, entering it’s fourth season, gave prizes from local busi-nesses, as well as two $500 college scholarships courtesy of U.S. Bank. The Sky Sox also continued to raise funds for local causes, including over $40,000 via ticket fundraisers, and several thousand more through donations and special events.

The Sky Sox also continued popular Youth Clinics for Children on local military installations, hosted two charity 5k run/walks, and five special Military Appre-ciation nights.

The Sky Sox Community Relations Department is committed to working in the community and providing fun and entertainment year round, certered around the great game of baseball, and our hometown Colorado Springs Sky Sox.

“Wendy’s sought a community partnership that was strategic, comprehensive, turn-key and, of course, successful. We found it with the Sky Sox organization. Their goal to deliver an experience beyond a simple baseball game led to innovative promotional ideas; their well-seasoned staff led to ease of execution; and their brand loyalty within the community led to the audience numbers we needed to reach. This is a partnership we hope to continue for years to come.” - Robin M. Macaluso, Marketing Director, Wendy's of Colorado Springs
