What you’ll coverAbout the courseIf you're interested in areas such as sportmanagement, sport coaching, sportdevelopment and the social aspects ofsport, then this course is an excellentchoice for you. Enhancing youremployability through work placementsand internship opportunities is a key partof this course. You’ll also be assignedyour own personal tutor who will supportyou and help structure your personaldevelopment and career planning.
How you’ll learnYou’ll learn through lectures, seminars,practicals and technology enhancedinnovations. You’ll be involved in coachingsessions, management case studies andcommunity sport development work.You’ll be assessed on your knowledge,applied practical and research skills,which will all take place in our newspecialised facilities.
Your careerThis is the start of your career soachieving a good degree and gainingemployability skills along the way are key.Recent graduates have secured jobs incoaching, sport development, teaching,the fitness industry, sport management orsport media and marketing. You couldteach physical education at primary orsecondary level by completing relevantpostgraduate training, or study our MResin Sport and Exercise enabling you to gainskills in teaching and research, with thepotential to progress to PhD level.
Additional informationThere are opportunities to gain NationalGoverning Body coaching awards in arange of sports that will develop yourconfidence, leadership skills andemployability. You’ll also benefit frommasterclass sessions from sport andexercise professionals about theirexperiences and career development. Youcan test and measure health and fitnessand utilise computer software packagesto analyse the results of performance inour new labs. You can also get involvedwith Team Derby which covers ourcourses, sports clubs, facilities and theAthletics Union.

Throughout the course you’lldevelop your research skills to prepareyou for your final research project.
