The locationThe estate is located in an unspoilt, hidden part of Spain in the heart of the Sierrade Segura Natural Park in the Jaén province of Andalucia. This province is Spain’slargest protected area and boasts four Natural Parks, a series of mountain rangeswith peaks over 2,000 meters high, beautiful valleys, lakes and rivers.

The Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park was established in 1986as an area of outstanding natural beauty. With an area of over 2,000 squarekilometres, it is the largest protected area in Spain and the second largest inEurope. It was declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 1983 and also a SpecialProtection Area for migratory birds in 1988. The area is home to a wealth ofanimals, birds, plants and trees. Jaén is the world’s leading producer of olives andolive oil.

The periodic Hunting Plan has been drawn up by experts with the approval of thelocal Park Warden and then approved by the Natural Park’s EnvironmentalAuthority. Furthermore there is a very good opportunity now to come to an arrangement togain access to the hunting rights of the neighbouring finca – this has some 1,200hectares and would provide the opportunity to increase the above numbers, verybroadly, by a factor of three.

WildlifeThe Natural Park is home to a wide variety of animal species ranging from the tinyand exquisite ‘viola cazorliense’ (Cazorla violet) to wild boar, eagles, vultures,mountain goats, wild cats, deer and the Valverde lizard. The breeding andreintroduction into the wild of one of the largest birds in the word, the vulture-eagle (Gypaetus Barbatus) is being carried out near the estate. The Authorities
