As if being small and having S. Horten as his name isn’t bad enough, now 10-year-old Stuart is forced to move far away from all his friends. But on his very fi rst day in his new home, Stuart’s swept up in an extraordinary adventure: the quest to fi nd his great-uncle Tony—a famous magician who literally disappeared off the face of the earth—and Tony’s marvelous, long-lost work-shop. Along the way, Stuart reluctantly accepts help from the annoying triplets next door…and encounters trouble from

another magician who’s also desperate to get hold of Tony’s treasures.

A quirky, smart, charming page-turner, Horten’s Miraculous Mechanisms will enchant young readers—as well as teachers, librarians, and parents.

LISSA EVANS, who resides in London with her husband and two daughters, has traveled quite a mysterious path of her own to middle-grade novelist. After a brief career in medicine and an even briefer one in stand-up comedy, Lissa became a comedy producer and spent a decade running a red pencil through other people’s work before eventually beginning to write herself. Lissa has written three adult novels and a picture book. This is her fi rst work of middle-grade fi ction.

Three Little Dinosaurs

Charles Fuge

With its sweet illustrations, appealing characters, and clever concept, Charles Fuge's wonderful

new picture book really soars to imaginative heights.

Scratch, Spike, and Lofty--a friendly trio of dinosaurs--dream only about flying. So one day they

climb a volcano, hoping that if they jump off the edge and flap, they just might really take flight.

But it turns out that flying is harder than it seems--until a kind pterodactyl shows them the way,

and helps them turn “let's pretend” into reality.

Popular author Charles Fuge has won both the Macmillan Prize and the Mother Goose Award for

his first book, Bush Vark's Day Out. His credits include the hugely popular Sometimes I Like to Curl

Up in a Ball (“Highly Commended” for the Kate Greenaway Medal, 2001), I Know a Rhino, and

My Dad!, and he is widely recognized for his Little Wombat series. Fuge lives in Dorset, England.

Don't Copy Me!

Jonathan Allen

“Don't copy me!” It's a refrain that's well-known to children, parents, and caregivers. Now it's

Little Puffin's turn to say the words as three cheeky gull chicks follow him around, imitating his

every word and step. And the more the puffin protests, the more the gulls enjoy their silly game.

Can Little Puffin find a way to turn his frustration into a clever plan? With his usual wit and flair,

author and artist Jonathan Allen turns a simple concept into a wildly entertaining tale.

Jonathan Allen has created many wonderful picture books for children, including I'm Not Ready!,

The Little Rabbit Who Likes to Say Moo, When the Snow Comes, and a number of stories starring

Baby Owl. He lives happily in a quiet village in Cambridgeshire, England, with his wife, children, a

dog, a cat, two guinea pigs, several guitars, and three computers.

How to Be a Ballerina

Harriet Castor, illustrated by Holly Clifton-Brown

Pink tights, pink slippers, and a tutu too: it's time to dance! Every little girl dreams of becoming a

ballerina, and balletomane Bella and her friends can help that fantasy come true. Would-be White

Swans and Giselles follow the journey from first class to full-time ballet school, and then to rehearsals

and a brilliant debut under the spotlight. Special items such as lift-the-flaps, a spinning wheel, and

ballet certificate involve budding ballerinas in an interactive experience.

Little Critter®'s Bedtime Storybook

Mercer Mayer

It's bedtime for Little Critter and Little Sister--but something always keeps Little Sister awake,

whether it's a lumpy bed or a missing stuffed toy and blankie. So Little Critter tries to lull her to

sleep with a series of funny short tales. Will she ever drift off to dreamland? Beloved author and

illustrator Mercer Meyer tackles this age-old dilemma with his trademark humor and rollicking

antics in a picture book all parents and children will relate to.

After illustrating others' picture books, Mercer Mayer created his first truly original work with A

Boy, a Dog, and a Frog (The Dial Press, 1967), followed a year later by his classic picture book

There's a Nightmare in My Closet. In 1976, he joined Golden Publishing and soon began

publishing his phenomenally successful Little Critter® and Little Monster® series.

- 150,000,000 Little Critter books have been sold

- Little Critter books are beloved by parents, educators, and children

The Wind in the Willows

Kenneth Grahame, illustrated by Robert Ingpen

Another beautiful book by renowned artist Robert Ingpen in the popular Sterling Illustrated

Classics series.

For more than a century, The Wind in the Willows and its endearing protagonists--Mole, Mr.

Toad, Badger, and Ratty--have enchanted children of all ages. Whether the four friends are

setting forth on an exciting adventure, engaging in a comic caper, or simply relaxing by the River

Thames, their stories are among the most charming in all English literature. This keepsake edition

of Kenneth Grahame's beloved novel features gorgeous art throughout, making it a must-have for

every child's library.

Kenneth Grahame began writing in 1879 as an escape from the drudgery of his job at the Bank of

England. The Wind in the Willows started as a bedtime story for his son Alistair, and Grahame

later continued the story in letters to his son. The book was published in 1908 and has never

been out of print.

Illustrator Robert Ingpen studied illustration and book design at The Royal Melbourne Institute of

Technology. In 1986 he received the Hans Christian Andersen Award for his contribution to

children's literature, and he was recently honored with the Membership of the Order of Australia.

- With publication timed to coincide with the major film release of The Wind in the Willows (Fall

2012, with Ricky Gervais as the voice of Mole), book sales should mirror the success of our Alice

in Wonderland, which published with Tim Burton's film and has sold more than 40,000 copies

- One of the most beloved and widely read children's classics of all time

- A lush and sumptuous edition with high-end production specs, ideal for gift giving

- Continuation of our illustrated classics series with Robert Ingpen

unique collection of animal tales that will enchant children…and adults, too.

Tellegen's delightful short narratives conjure up a magical world where anything can happen: trees can
