Girl Scout Destinations are the ultimate adventure for individual girls ages 11 and older! With different trips every year, there’s something amazing for everyone to experience. Make friends from all over the country as you travel with Girl Scouts from different states, see and learn new things, and pack your bags full of inspiring, life-changing experiences and memories. Go to girlscouts.org to check out all the upcoming opportunities! Click on any destination of your choice to view the details and the application.

Completing an application is your first step to experiencing an adventure of a lifetime! The application consists of three parts:

Sailing Lake Erie: Tall Ship Sail SchoolJuly 14-29, 2020 • Ages 14-17 • Program Fee: $1,800Set sail with the crew of the U.S. Brig Niagara, the largest wooden sailing ship in the United States, as you explore the beauty and majesty of Lake Erie. You’ll step aboard the Niagara, a US Coast Guard certified Sailing School vessel, as a trainee. Raise and lower the sails, eat meals from the ship’s galley, sleep in a hammock below deck, and keep lookout with the crew while onboard the ship. By becoming an active part of the crew, you’ll learn the skills of traditional square-rig seamanship, through sailing, maintaining, and living on the ship. You’ll make friends that last a lifetime as you become an integral part of the team helping the ship make her way from port to port.

* Program Fee does not include transportation to and from the Destination. You will be responsible for round-trip travel to Cleveland, Ohio.

*A $250 non-refundable deposit will be due upon acceptance.

Who Can Attend? • Any currently registered member of GSNEO may participate in council-sponsored programs and events specific to your current age level.

• Girls may participate individually or as part of a troop. Adult chaperones are required unless otherwise noted.

• Family and friends are welcome to attend ‘Family-Friendly’ programs and events.

Need Financial Assistance? • Families that have a financial need may apply once per year for Scoutship assistance. Girls must be currently registered members to qualify. For more information and the application, visit gsneo.org > customer care.

Refunds & Cancellations • A full refund of the program fee will be given ONLY if the program is cancelled by GSNEO.

• A partial refund may be granted for medical or family emergencies. Submit written requests for refunds no later than two weeks after the program date to [email protected].

Get Registered! • GSNEO uses an online registration system. First time visitors must become a registered user by creating a profile and password.

• Payment is due at the time of registration, using credit or debit cards, or GSNEO Pathway Passes.

• Registrations that can be accommodated after the close date will incur a $5 late fee per person.

• Programs are filled on a first-registered, first-served basis. The online system indicates program capacity and remaining spaces available, as well as a waitlist.

• Waitlist openings are dependent on cancellations and are not a guarantee of being placed in a program.

Ready, aim, fire! Come to the target sports range at camp and enjoy a beginner’s course in air rifle shooting. GSNEO has partnered with NorthCoast Marksmanship Club (NCMC) to teach you air rifle basics like equipment safety, gear tutorials, proper shooting techniques, and how thrilling the sport of marksmanship can be! Did you know that marksmanship is an official Olympic sport? The United States has brought home 107 medals in marksmanship since the sport began in 1896! Who knows...maybe you’ll be the next to bring home the gold? During this program, you will shoot at targets using competitive air rifles and pellets. Program includes approximately 1 hour of gun safety education before you begin to shoot. Participants must be mature enough to understand and follow safety procedures and handle equipment as instructed by the NCMC instructors. Program will run rain or shine, so please dress for the weather.

Help clean the Mentor Headlands Beach anytime between 10am-2pm! GSNEO has connected with the Headlands National Parks system to keep the beach clean. Clear the beach of debris, including plastic waste that is a threat to the health and safety of marine life. Once you're done, you get a cool patch to add to your collection. Bring work gloves, dress for the weather (program runs rain or shine) and wear closed-toe shoes for safety. Don't forget your sunscreen! Look for Girl Scout signs at the beach.

Want to start a babysitting business? Become First Aid/CPR/AED certified, learn child care techniques and understand how to start your own business! Practice caring for babies using an infant simulator. Fee includes First Aid/CPR/AED certifications, lunch, snacks and a babysitting starter kit. Complete some of the requirements for the Cadette Babysitting and First Aid badges. This is a 2-day program with an optional overnight. Register separately for the overnight. Are you participating in the Business of Babysitting program at camp and want to spend the night instead of driving home? Plan to hang out at camp for the night with your babysitting team! Pack your overnight and personal gear, and we’ll take care of meals. Fee includes dinner and breakfast. Girls spending the night at camp must also have an adult chaperone attend the overnight. NOTE: Outdoor and First Aid/CPR/AED trained chaperones are required for the overnight.

See all Camp Ledgewood has to offer! A campfire with s’mores and other fun activities will be available. Camp Ledgewood is located in Peninsula, Ohio (Summit County) within the boundaries of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. This 400-acre camp features Low Lodge dining hall, the new Chickadee Program Center, a swimming pool, health center, trading post, and more! Housing units include cabins, platform tents, covered wagons, a hammock village, and Adirondack shelters. Each unit has space for group activities, and a fire circle. Family-style meals are served at Low Lodge during summer camp. Camp Ledgewood also hosts high ropes, zip line, and low ropes courses, a target sports range, sports field, amphitheater, observatory, and Lake Loomis for boating and nature studies.

Take a tour around Camp Sugarbush! A campfire with s’mores and other fun activities will be available. Camp Sugarbush is located in Kinsman, Ohio (Trumbull County) and covers nearly 200 acres of natural space. Camp facilities include a dining hall, shower house, health center, swimming pool, target sports range, sports courts, observatory, and a small lake for introductory canoeing. Campers live in units housing four to eight girls. All units have cots with mattresses. Housing units include covered wagons, perma-tents, and pavili-tents. Each unit has a shelter for group activities, a campfire circle, and a wash pavilion with sinks and latrines.

Calling all Cadettes - Join your friends at Camp Ledgewood for our largest Cadette program! The Cadette Summit is a weekend event planned by girls, for girls. In this action-packed weekend you’ll get to choose your own experience. Pick your overnight housing type and Saturday activities, including high adventure, creative art projects, outdoor pursuits and more. Come on your own, with a buddy, or with your troop. Program cost varies based on overnight accommodation. Watch gsneo.org for more registration details!

Cadette Summit is a wonderfully unique program, and we want you on the planning team! The Girl Leadership Team meets to brainstorm, plan, and organize the annual Cadette Summit. Girls interested in participating on the Girl Leadership Team must complete an application and submit a letter of support from an adult. All members of the Girl Leadership Team must commit to attending 4 of 5 meetings from January - April (1/5, 1/19, 2/2, 3/1, 4/5) as well as the mandatory May meeting (5/10) and the Cadette Summit itself! Prerequisite: All members of the Girl Leadership Team must have attended a previous Cadette Summit.

Did you love Crazy 4 Robots, and would like to learn more about robotics? Challenge yourself further than before by learning about more advanced robotic features. Check out Camp Timberlane! A campfire with s’mores and other fun activities will be available. Camp Timberlane is located on 324 scenic acres in the beautiful Firelands Reserve near Wakeman, Ohio (Erie County). The property includes miles of hiking trails, creeks, ravines, and is home to a variety of plants and wildlife. Additionally, there is a swimming pool, splash pad, shower house, hillside amphitheater, target sports range, low ropes challenge course, observatory, and a meandering lake that is ideal for boating. Edgewater Program Center is the perfect setting for arts and crafts and also hosts the health center. Sleeping units are distinctive and unique featuring cabins, platform tents, and a yurt. All units have space for group activities and a campfire circle. Family-style meals are served at Stocker Lodge during summer camp.

You’re getting older now--it's time to make some real-life decisions! Let's chat about how to search for colleges and what factors should be considered when identifying options. By the conclusion of this session, you'll complete three of five requirements of the Ambassador College Knowledge badge AND create the beginning of a college search plan.

Join us on a journey exploring animals that live in ocean habitats. Discover what animals need to survive and compare animal needs to our own. Meet a hermit crab in Eric Carle’s, “House for a Hermit Crab” and learn how animals work together in the ocean. Then, visit our invertebrate touch pool to encounter living tide pool animals. This program complements sections of the 3 Cheers for Animals Journey (award not included). Registration includes aquarium admission – plan your day to enjoy the facility before or after the program. Parking is on your own—cash only.

Join a team of experts from FirstEnergy to learn about equipment used to power up those lights – then, go on a scavenger hunt around camp in search of this powerful equipment (look – don’t touch). See how quickly you can put on the protective gear of electric field workers, including their dielectric overshoes and rubber gloves. Draw a graphite circuit to light an LED, measure up some kitchen kilowatts, and figure out conductors and insulators. You can even load up into a bucket truck! Feeling drained? Recharge at the snack stop. You’ll receive the FirstEnergy Girl Power patch, and as an added bonus, the Trading Post will be open! Dress for the weather for some outdoor activities – including closed-toe shoes for walking around camp. Check-In will begin at 1:30pm at the Chickadee Program Center. Girl Scouts were doing exciting things in the 1940’s and 1950’s! As “risk-takers”, girls could stretch their wings learning about flight or discover their ‘sea legs’ with activities on the water. They were innovators in science and technology, and were leaders in the social equality movement. Discover what it was like to be a Girl Scout in the 1940s and 1950’s. Find out what a Wing Scout was. Be a “risk-taker” and try your hand at a new activity. You can also sample the arts, music, games and fashions from the period. Participants will receive a segment patch that accompanies the basic Making Girl Scout History patch. Girls receive a bag of items to take home and leaders receive a packet with optional additional activities. Participation in the basic Making Girl Scout History patch program is not required, but is encouraged. And special, just for 5th grade girls, come to camp an hour earlier and participate in a bridging ceremony in the morning! After you bridge to Cadettes, you will spend the rest of the day earning your first Cadette badge: Outdoor Art Apprentice. Try your hand at writing a nature haiku and present it to new friends in an outdoor drum circle. Learn how to save a life and become American Red Cross certified in First Aid/CPR/AED. You can even apply what you’ve learned to complete some requirements of the First Aid badge.

NOTE: One week before class, you’ll be emailed a link to complete the online portion. Be sure you enter your correct email address when registering for this class. Prepare for the in-person session by completing the online portion of simulated learning course on virtually—the virtual course must be completed prior to attending the in-person session. After completion, you’ll be given a certificate to proceed to the in-classroom skills session. Bring a printed or digital copy of your completion certificate to the class. You cannot attend the class without this proof of completion.

We have limited space available for leaders to register as a participant and join the girls in this thrill-seeking adventure. An Aquarium tour will bring the underwater world to life. This program complements sections of the WOW Journey (award not included). Registration includes Aquarium admission, so stay and enjoy the exhibits following the program. Parking is on your own—cash only.
