SPACE CIRCULATION PROGRAM CONCEPT Revival of the China Basin BRANDING & PACKAGING LOUNGE RESTAURANT Bubble Diagram Floor Plan Furniture e design concept of the China Basin involves bringing back the importance of what once use to be a great body of water that flowed throughout the city with inspiration coming from the elements of nature. Mission Bay is a new up and coming thriving area that includes plenty of areas near by to enjoy both entertainment and relaxation. e name Taste & Treats is influenced by the design concept. With its exotic name, there is a yin-yang effect to the brand name. e word “taste” pertains to the restaurant area and encourages customers to come in, slow down, sit down, relax, and enjoy the food. e word “treats” has to deal with the Market area and focuses on allowing people to come in and spoil themselves with different foods or “treats” that the space has to offer them (e.g. macaroon, wine, beer, cheese, gelato, oysters, etc.) Even the brands logo reflects this yin-yang repetition having two T’s with one upside down and using black and white colors. What does the client want? • Restaurant open for breakfast, lunch, happy hour, and dinner • Coffee, oyster, gelato & sushi bar • Prepared foods in glass display cases • Open kitchen floor plan with open work stations, walk-in refrigerator and freezer (to store foods over night), and pizza oven • Include an area of the kitchen for charcuterie, meat, chicken, salami, ham, cheese, seafood, etc. • Minimum of 2 bathroom stalls for woman and men areas with each bathroom having an ADA compliant bathroom stall • Display shelving of fresh, organic produce • Check out areas for purchases produce with minimum of 3-4 cashiers working the register stations • Area for Grad n’ Go Juices • A simple, small office for paperwork • Locker room space for employees • Use of natural light • And most importantly, an overall design that is clean, sophisticated, but still attractive for the young crowds and inviting to everyone ACADEMY of ART UNIVERSITY ® School of Interior Architecture & Design © 2015 All rights reserved.
