This Term’s Year 5 Lake District Trip

A letter will be coming home soon to let you know that Year 5 are planning a trip to the Lake District.

This is planned to take place on Tuesday 4th February 2020.

The day will consist of walking around the area of Lake Windermere, exploring the rivers and lakes.

In addition to this, children will also take a journey across the Lake on a ferry. This will allow children

to apply their knowledge of rivers outside of the classroom. It promises to be a memorable day,

during which the children will gain a great deal of geography skills and real-life experiences.

Last Term’s Y5 Trip to York

For the end of the Viking topic, Year 5 visited the famous Jorvik Viking Museum in York. The children

experienced the sights and smells of a real Viking village and were able to do some forensic digging

in an archaeological dig site, uncovering historical relics of the past.

Rock Stars Maths Day - On Friday 10th January 2020 we will hosting a Maths Rockstar Day with a focus on times

tables and number facts. This is to launch our newly purchased licence of ‘Times Tables Rockstars.’ All children

in school are invited to come to school dressed as a ‘Maths Rockstar’ for the day. There will be a prize for the

most creative costume! On the day, children from each class will be selected to play against other children in

their Key Stage in a knockout style tournament in the school hall. The winning child will be awarded a prize. In addition to this,

there will be lots of fun times tables and number fact workshops for children to visit throughout the day.

Last term’s winners of the Citizenship Award were:

part in a wedding celebration to find

out what takes place. They even had a

wedding reception afterwards and

celebrated with a cake!

Thank you
