What a week! We welcome the return of Sherril Daly, our editor! Thank you to Bill Bowler and his team on a very successful Twilight Market Event at Faulconbridge Public School last Friday. Rotary was certainly on show with over 20 Rotarians, partners and Friends supporting the team. A good overall result allowing for the storm that saw the heavens open an hour before we were due to shut down! What whizzes we were at a fast pack-up!!! Thank you to all who assisted in any way!
Last weeks ‘Youth Night’ was another fantastic event. I thank John Fuller for his organisation and look forward the next adventures of our Youth Portfolio in 2019! The extraordinary talent in our area never ceases to amaze me. The ability and confidence on display from Ethan Powell during his performance with the violin left us spellbound. We wish him well on his tour to Europe next year. Marnie Larden is another young one to watch, wonderful presentation and last but not least Sofie Jansens who is off to Denmark in the New Year for her Youth Exchange. Good luck with the planned 200 word vocabulary! We look forward to reports from you as the year goes on.
Quite a few of us had a lovely Melbourne Cup Lunch at the Golf Club! Sofia experienced this great Australian Cultural Event first hand! It was a day of fun and fellowship!
Our welfare list still has a few members reported not being on top of their game.

We have had word that Alan Cameron is responding to treatment in Katoomba Hospital and hopes to be home soon. Lynda visited Peter McTaggart in Nepean Hospital on Tuesday afternoon and reports he is looking pretty well also. Marilyn & Colin are still on the sick list, but reports are that Colin is holding the fort!
This week we have an information evening on PCYC Youth Outreach program. We have quite a few guests booked in already, remember to let Peter Sparkes know of any extras and any changes to dietary requirements.
Enjoy the rest of your week and the lovely rain,

THE LAST MEETING
Monday night saw members enjoy the company of 3 delightful students our club is sponsoring. As Fred said in his thanks, our club started off wanting to commit to nurturing students in our area and we have
continued to successfully achieved this over the years. We first had the pleasure of listening to Ethan Powell play his Violin. Ethan is part of the Western Sydney
Orchestra and will be on tour in England next year. We then heard from Sophie Janson who is an Outgoing Exchange Student. Sophie was a delight to listen
to as she explained her excitement and trepidations of her upcoming year abroad. We then had Marnee Larden (Rotary Adventure In Citizenship) who gave us a delightful account of her
time in Canberra.

Following a request from Robyn Ingram, she would like a group of singers for the
Elderly Person’s Lunch on Monday 3rd December. I ask for your support.
I can probably get some of the previous church choir but would like that augmented by Rotarians. We are not doing anything fancy – just Christmas
Carols which are familiar and in which the audience can participate.
Male and Female Rotarians most welcome. Please let me know of your availability.

Twilight Markets
Thank you all for helping making the Twilight event another success for our Club. Slight numbers down because of the hot weather. A few of our fellow Rotarians had a bit of fun
trying to escape from the sun before we were shaded by a building. An added culinary delight was the Chicken Souvlaki/Kebab/Shashlik
(meat on skewers) With the thunder storm at the end of the proceedings
it made for a very fast and speedy exit.

Great News
Ross and Robyn Ingram visited Alan Cameron in hospital and it looks like he may be home by 11th November.
Peter McTaggart continues to improve while in hospital.
Some of our members enjoyed the day at the Springwood Country Club for a Melbourne Cup Luncheon. District Governor Susan Wakefield and husband PDG John were off and racing at the very start trying to rip their Minties wrapper into a long strip. President Margaret and husband Richard won best dressed couple. There were even winners of the race. A great day was had by all.

Dates for Your Diary
Support The Rotary Foundation in November
In November, we celebrate Rotary Foundation Month and the contributions our members make to their communities and around the world. And 27 November is Giving Tuesday, a global online movement for charities and individuals to celebrate and encourage giving. This year, make The Rotary Foundation your charity of choice. Donations to the Foundation help supply vaccines to protect children from polio, train peacebuilders in conflict resolution, and build sustainable communities for a better future.
You can make a difference.
Dakoju Ravishankar has established the Paola Dakoju
Ravishankar Endowed Fund for Global Grants through his
extraordinary gift of about $14.7 million to The Rotary
Foundation.
Ravishankar, president of the Rotary Club of Bangalore
Orchards, Karnataka, India, says, “I am delighted to make a
meaningful contribution of my life’s earnings toward the six
areas of focus.” The gift will support high-impact, sustainable
projects for generations. It also marks a significant
contribution to The Rotary Foundation’s goal of building its
Endowment to $2.025 billion by 2025.

Graffiti Alliance Group Saturday 3rd November saw members from the Graffiti Alliance Group performed some much needed attention around our district. Members from Hazelbrook, Blaxland and Springwood tackled many different surfaces with their array of techniques that they have mastered over the years. Some members from this group go out once a week to check on areas and all graffiti is photographed and sent to the police, and from this there has been some convictions.
Well Done Crew and Thank you
