The activists assembled at Pratap Park here, carry- ing placards displaying hard- sitting messages against the Director and other officials who are under fire for the reported assault on the nurse. Under the banner “Kash- miris Against Sexual Assault”, the activists shouted slogans, seeking immediate suspension of the Director. “Our main demand is that the Director should be immediately suspended,” said Shehla Rashid Shora, a stu- dent activist from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. The activists demanded implementation of a general rule regarding cases of molestation. “In such situations, the accused should not be allowed to take over high positions like that of a Director who is manipulating everything,” Shehla said. The activists charged the Director of manipulating his position by influencing the departmental inquiry and threatening the victim. The victim has herself come out in the open two times along with few activists, seeking justice. Besides Dr Saleem-ur- Rehman, Dr Nazir Shadad (CMO Anantnag), Dr Arshid Tak (BMO Sallar) and Dr Ashraf (Incharge Medical Superintendent Seer Anantnag) were charged by the nurse for molesting her.
