Making energy better across Northern Ireland

Q&A WITH THE AIRTRICITY TEAMMADE IN NORTHERN IRELAND

Airtricity is powered by SSE, Northern Ireland’s No.1 renewable energy generator.

WE ALSO EMPOWER LOCAL COMMUNITIES TO BECOME GREENER

The Airtricity Community Fund makes us the largest net

contributor of any energy company in Northern Ireland

to community energy efficiency projects.

Q: What has been the biggest challenge facing Airtricity in the current market?

The integration of Phoenix Gas Supply with Airtricity NI was a real challenge, but one that was completed successfully. The merging of two very different businesses always presents difficulties, however now that the integration is complete, we are currently the only domestic dual fuel supplier in Northern Ireland. Something we are extremely proud of.

Q: What’s the outlook for Airtricity in Northern Ireland beyond 2013?

We will continue to build on our success since entering the domestic electricity market in 2010. We now employ  almost 250 full time and contracted staff across the country, and as Northern Ireland’s only dual fuel supplier, we will continue  to grow both our gas and electricity businesses.

Q: How has Airtricity’s commercial business developed?

Since first entering the electricity market in 2002, our commercial business has continued to grow year on year and we are now Northern Ireland’s largest supplier by commercial load, with over 16,000 business customers. We aim to continue our growth with entry into the ‘ten towns’ over the next 12 months.
