1. Introduction

Continuous Evaluation (CE) mark is a major process in SSLC Exam. We have created a new web

application for managing the CE marks of registered candidates. There are three major steps in CE

mark tabulation: CE mark entry, verification/correction and locking. We have given four user

groups (user logins) for this process: HM, entry, verify, correction. Each user login has given

different privileges. The entry user can enter the marks. The verify user can verify and correct

(modify) the entered CE marks. The HM user has given all the privileges. The final locking is given

to the HM user. No other user can lock the entered CE marks. Report generation can be done after

entry process. Only marks that are verified or modified are included in the report. After final

locking, the marks cannot be modified. Make sure the entered mark are verified and does not

have any modification in future before final locking.

Process Flow

The following figure shows the overall process of CE marks tabulation. You need to login

using your school code, user name and password. Enter the CE mark of each candidate, and then

verify the entered marks. If any of the marks entered is incorrect you can correct/ modify the

marks. After verification/ correction process, you can lock the CE marks. After that you can

generate a report of the CE marks. Make sure there is no modification in CE marks before locking.


2. User Creation

There are four user logins given for CE mark tabulation: HM, Entry, Verify, and Correction. Each

user logins are given different privileges. The following figure shows the privileges of each user.

2.1 How to create a user?

For creating a user, go to “Create User” menu in Administration menu section. Click “Create User”

menu.

You can create a user from “Add User” section. You can create user with roles entry, verify and

correction. You cannot create an HM user login. There will one HM user login available. The below

figure shows “Add User” section.

Here you need to enter the display name, user name, and password and confirm password fields.

You need to choose the user group from the select box. Click “Add” button to create the user.

After creating user you can edit and delete the created user from “View user” section. Click on edit

button to edit the added user and click delete button to delete the added users. Only HM user can

create, edit and delete users.


3. CE Mark Entry

For CE mark entry, go to “CE Mark Entry” Menu from “CE Tabulation” menu section from “Pre

Examination” menu section.

The CE mark entry page contains three sections: Enter CE Marks, View CE Marks, and Print Report.

You can enter CE mark with division wise or without division. You can choose division from the left

top corner of the “Enter CE Marks” section.

Choose division, enter the register number. of a candidate from that chosen division, enter the

marks of each subject, and click “Save” button to save the CE marks of that register number. After

saving, click “next” button to get the next register number. If the CE mark is successfully saved,

this message will show “Data successfully inserted to database”. Click “OK” button to continue.


You can view the entered CE marks on the “View CE Marks” section. You can view the entered CE

marks division wise. Click “Refresh CE Marks” button to view the entered CE marks. You can edit

and delete the entered CE marks.

If you want to edit the entered CE marks, click on the edit button to edit. Next shows a

confirmation box whether you want to edit or not.

Click on “Yes” button if you want to edit otherwise click “No”. The page moves to the top when

you click “Yes” button and the register number and CE marks of that register number will be

loaded on the text boxes. Change the CE marks if you want to update and Click “Save” button to

save it. If the CE mark is successfully saved, this message will show “Data successfully updated to

database”.


You can generate a printed report of the entered CE marks. Click “Generate Printed Report” button

to get a report of the entered CE marks. You can get report of CE marks division wise.

4. CE Mark Verification

You need to verify the entered CE marks. For CE mark verification, go to “CE Mark Verification”

Menu from “CE Tabulation” menu section from “Pre Examination” menu section.

Pre Examination >> CE Tabulation >> CE Mark Verification

Enter the CE mark range for verification (Eg: 250001 - 250020). You should give starting register

number and ending register number for range. You can also give division.

Click “Enter” button to list the entered CE marks from the entered register number range. You can

view the entered CE marks in the “View CE Marks” section. Here you can verify the entered CE

marks. There is a select box on the right side of each CE marks. There are two options: correct and

incorrect. If the CE marks of a register number are correct, you can choose “correct” option.


If any of the CE mark of a register number is incorrect, you can choose “incorrect” option from the

select box. Click “Save all data” button to save the verification process of shown CE marks.

The saved CE marks will not show again in this section. The marks with incorrect CE mark will go to

correction page for correction.



5. CE Mark Correction

The register number with incorrect CE mark can be viewed from this section. For CE mark

correction, go to “CE Mark Correction” Menu from “CE Tabulation” menu section from “Pre

Examination” menu section.

Here you can see the register numbers with incorrect CE marks. The incorrect CE marks are listed in

the “View CE Marks” section.


You can modify the CE mark of a register number by clicking on the “Modify” button. When modify

button is clicked a modify window will be opened showing the CE marks of that register number.

You can modify the marks on the modify window. After entering correct marks, click on “Update”

button. Click on close button to close the modify window. The modified CE marks of that register

number will not show on the “View CE Marks” section. There is no need to verify the modified CE

marks.



6. CE Mark Locking

Here you can lock the CE marks of candidates. . For CE mark locking, go to “Final Verification by HM”

Menu from “CE Tabulation” menu section from “Pre Examination” menu section.


Pre Examination >> CE Tabulation >> Final Verification by HM

Here you can view the no. of students, student register number range, no. of CE marks entered, no.

of CE marks unlocked. Also you can view the entered CE marks and their current status whether it

is entered, verified or modified. You can set the CE mark of register number as incorrect and

modify it.

When you click on “Set as incorrect” button, the button changes to “modify” button. On clicking

“Modify” button, a modify window with CE marks of that register number will show.

You can change the CE marks of that register number on the modify window and click “Update”

button to save the changes. Click on “Close” button to close the modify window.


After verification and correction process, you can lock the CE marks of candidates. There is a

declaration section on this page. There you can lock the CE marks. Before locking, make sure all the

CE marks of students are entered and verified.

On clicking “OK” button, a confirmation box will show asking “Marks will not be editable here after.

Do you want to proceed?” Click “Yes” to proceed.

If there is any CE marks left to verify the following message will show and you cannot lock the CE

marks. After locking you cannot modify the marks. You can generate final report of the CE Marks

after locking.


7. Conclusion

The continuous evaluation mark tabulation is a major step in SSLC exam where CE marks of

candidates are entered, verified and locked. There are four user logins use for doing this process in

our application. Here HM user has given all the privileges. Other users’ privileges are limited. The

HM should lock the CE marks of the candidates after the verification/correction process. After

locking the CE marks cannot be modified.
