Dear brothers and sisters,

Often I find myself repeating the words in today’s Gospel

reading, “Lord increase our faith”. When I am faced with a

difficult task and need help to get through, “Lord increase my

faith” to help me believe I can do work given to me. Or in many

ways when life is demanding, we pray, “Lord increase my faith”

to help me take care of my family, to forgive as I should, or to

help me trust that the Lord will provide.

If faith is so important, what does having faith mean? Faith

is an attitude of trust in the presence of God. It is an openness to

what God wants, that He in the end will take care of things, to

bring things to fulfillment, not necessarily according to our

demands but according to His will and in his time, and we trust

in that good will of God, and He will keep His promises.

And after we have accomplished all that faith requires of

us, we still do not have a claim on God. The fact that disciples

have done their duty does not entitle them to anything; they are

merely doing their duty as servants. There may be pride in doing

one’s duty well or be grateful for praises received but in the end,

it still remains our duty.

If we call on the Lord, as the Apostles do in today's Gospel,

He will give us true faith, will stir to a flame the Holy Spirit who

has dwelt within us since Baptism. Our task is to continue doing

what He has commanded—to love and to build up His

kingdom—trusting that His vision will come to fulfillment. For

His vision still has its time. One day, though we are simply

"unprofitable servants," we will be invited to eat and drink at our

Master's table. It is that day we anticipate with each celebration

of the Eucharist. Please come support and enjoy the Bazaar with

Vigésimo Séptimo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario 6 de octubre de 2019 Entren, postrémonos por tierra, bendiciendo al Señor, creador nuestro. — Salmo 95 (94):6

Queridos hermanos y hermanas,

A menudo me encuentro repitiendo las palabras en la

lectura del Evangelio de hoy, "Señor, aumenta nuestra fe".

Cuando me enfrento a una tarea difícil y necesito ayuda para

terminar, "Señor, aumenta mi fe", para ayudarme a creer que

puedo hacer el trabajo que se me ha dado. O de muchas

maneras, cuando la vida es exigente, rezamos: "Señor,

aumenta mi fe" para ayudarme a cuidar a mi familia, para

perdonar como debería, o para ayudarme a confiar en que el

Señor me proveerá.

Si la fe es tan importante, ¿qué significa tener fe? La fe

es una actitud de confianza en la presencia de Dios. Es una

apertura a lo que Dios quiere, que al final se encargue de las

cosas, para que se cumplan, no necesariamente de acuerdo con

nuestras demandas, sino de acuerdo con su voluntad y en su

tiempo. Confiamos en esa buena voluntad de Dios y Él

cumplirá sus promesas.

Y después de haber logrado todo lo que la fe requiere de

nosotros, todavía no tenemos un reclamo sobre Dios. El hecho

de que los discípulos hayan cumplido con su deber no les da

derecho a nada; simplemente están cumpliendo con su deber

como sirvientes. Puede haber orgullo en hacer bien el deber de

uno o estar agradecido por los elogios recibidos, pero al final,

sigue siendo nuestro deber.

Si invocamos al Señor, como lo hacen los Apóstoles en el

Evangelio de hoy, Él nos dará la verdadera fe, despertará en

llamas al Espíritu Santo que ha morado en nosotros desde el

Bautismo. Nuestra tarea es continuar haciendo lo que Él ha

ordenado: amar y construir Su reino, confiando en que Su

visión se cumplirá. Su visión aún tiene su tiempo. Un día,

aunque simplemente seamos "sirvientes no rentables", seremos

invitados a comer y beber en la mesa de nuestro Amo. Es ese

día que anticipamos con cada celebración de la Eucaristía. Por

favor venga a apoyar y disfrute el Kermésse con nuestra

familia parroquial y tenga una semana bendecida.

Hemos recibido $275,650 en promesas de 75 familias. GRACIAS!

Incrementar el numero de familias que hacen una promesa pronto, es la fórmula del éxito en esta campaña histórica. Animamos a todos que aprendan más sobre este esfuerzo en nuestra parroquia y tomar una decisión para apoyarlo. No todos podemos hacer el mismo donativo, pero todos podemos hacer un verdadero sacrificio. El fin de semana del 20 de octubre celebraremos el Fin de Semana de Compromiso en todas las misas, animamos a todas las familias que devuelvan el sobre de compromiso para ayudarnos a lograr nuestra meta.
