Our Assistant Music Director, Carlos Sanchez is moving on to a new

career opportunity. Please join us after all masses this weekend for

some refreshments and a chance to wish Carlos well. We will miss

Wow! What an amazing weekend we just concluded for our International Festival!! Special thanks to Virginia Lopez who spent so much time meeting with the core team in preparation and implementation of a very successful, spirit filled, fun weekend. The food was amazing and the variety was something special, and the entertainment was fun and light hearted. Thank you to all who participated by preparing the food and learning how to dance!! It was great fun and enjoyed by all. Our time together is a testament of our engagement in this diverse community and our care and love for our church.

Our International Trilingual Mass on Sunday at 10:30 was such a beautiful occasion for us as so many different people from across the world gathered to celebrate in thanksgiving the gift of our diversity by praising and worshiping the God who has given us so much. Thank you Fr. Bob and Fr. Boursiquot for concelebrating with me. A special shout out to our young people who were so instrumental in setting the altar and bringing down the gifts. We are proud that you are not only our church in the future, but you are also our church now. Our International Festival is a true sign of our Saint Andrew Catholic Community Next Generation Parish motto which states, “We are one in Christ”. As Jesus prayed to God the Father in the gospel of John “that they may all be one” (John 17:21) let’s continue to pray for each other that indeed in the midst of our great diversity we realize and work toward a communion with one another and our God so “that they may all be one” might be a reality.

We are moving forward with our priorities that were celebrated a few months ago as we unveiled our Next Generation

Pastoral Plan. This weekend we are starting to sign up people for small faith sharing groups. Already the material has been

prepared. We will be using the Gospel Reflection booklets that are home grown here at St. Andrew and were distributed to all

parishioners at the beginning of Advent. Belonging to a small faith sharing group is an ancient and most appropriate way to

learn and reflect and grow in relationship with God and others. It is how the church started. This is what is meant by the sign

that hung outside the church for so many weeks that said, “We are building the future and it’s free.” I invite and encourage

each of you to make time in your schedule to sign up so you can belong to a group. Help build the future.

Next Generation Parish

Update

As we move forward with the NGP plan, three new committees have been formed and are ready to meet:

The Multicultural Committee-chaired by Martha Zayas will meet for the first time in late February or early March.

The Hospitality Committee-cochaired by Latrina Peters-Gipson and Fitz Thomas will meet for the first time in late February or early March.

The Spiritual Growth Committee-co-chaired by Diane Gallagher and Eileen Givens will meet for the first time on February 11.

It’s not too late to join a committee if you are still interested! Please send an email to [email protected] stating which committee you are interested in and the best way to contact you.

¡Guauu! ¡Qué increíble fin de semana acabamos de concluir con nuestro Festival Internacional! Un agradecimiento especial a Virginia Lopez, que pasó mucho tiempo reuniéndose con el equipo central en la preparación e implementación de un fin de semana muy exitoso, lleno de espíritu y divertido. La comida era increíble y la variedad era algo especial, y el entretenimiento era divertido y alegre. ¡Gracias a todos los que participaron preparando la comida y aprendiendo a bailar! Fue muy divertido y disfrutado por todos. Nuestro tiempo juntos es un testimonio de nuestro compromiso en esta comunidad diversa y nuestro cuidado y amor por nuestra iglesia. Nuestra misa trilingüe internacional el domingo a las 10:30 fue una ocasión tan hermosa para nosotros, ya que muchas personas de todo el mundo se reunieron para celebrar en agradecimiento el don de nuestra diversidad al alabar y adorar al Dios que nos ha dado tanto. Mientras Jesús oró a Dios Padre en el evangelio de Juan "para que todos sean uno" (Juan 17:21), continuemos orando unos por otros para que, en medio de nuestra gran diversidad, nos demos cuenta y trabajemos hacia una comunión con el uno al otro y para que el "que todos puedan ser uno" podría sea una realidad.

Estamos avanzando con nuestras prioridades que se celebraron hace unos meses al revelar nuestro Plan Pastoral de

Próxima Generación. Este fin de semana estamos empezando a inscribir personas para pequeños grupos de intercambio de

fe. Ya el material ha sido preparado. Usaremos los folletos de Reflexión del Evangelio que se cultivan en casa aquí en St.

Andrew y se distribuyeron a todos los feligreses al comienzo de Adviento. Pertenecer a un pequeño grupo de intercambio de

fe es una forma antigua y más apropiada de aprender, reflexionar y crecer en relación con Dios y con los demás. Así es como

comenzó la iglesia. Esto es lo que se entiende por la señal que colgó fuera de la iglesia durante tantas semanas que decía:

“Estamos construyendo el futuro y es gratis”. Invito y animo a cada uno de ustedes a hacer un tiempo en su agenda para

inscribirse para que puedan pertenecer a un grupo. Ayuda a construir el futuro.

¿Quieres aprender a conseguir silencio y paz?

¿A liberarte de angustias y temores?

Ven, aprende a vivir, asiste al Taller de Oración y Vida.

Un Taller de Oración y Vida es:

Primero. Ante todo un método práctico para aprender a orar, igual

que en un taller en que, trabajando se aprende a trabajar, aquí,

orando, se aprende a orar.

Paso a paso se aprende a entrar en una relación personal con el

Señor desde los primeros pasos hasta la profundidad de la

contemplación. De esta manera los estudiantes se convierten en

amigos y discípulos del Señor.

Segundo. También es Taller de Vida. Por la práctica de la fé y el

abandono, y como consecuencia de la práctica de la oración, casi

sin pretenderlo, el estudiante va sanando las heridas del corazón,

sofocando las angustias del alma, ahuyentando los miedos hasta

lograr el control de nervios y un gran serenidad. Los espacios

interiores se van poblando de una paz nunca imaginada.

Desaparece la tristeza y se recupera la alegría del vivir.

Tercero. Contemplando la figura de Jesús y copiando sus rasgos,

lentamente el estudiante va transformándose en una persona

paciente como Jesús, humilde como Jesús, comprensivo como

Jesús, manso y bondadoso como Jesús. Así el estudiante llega a

superarse a sí mismo y a trascender sus propios límites.

fundados por el Padre Ignacio Larrañaga, sacerdote franciscano,
