In the Gospel today, the disciples decide to leave everything to follow Jesus. We are also called to follow Jesus, who tells us that “whatever you do to the least of mine you do for me.” How are you called to follow Jesus? Are you taking time to meditate? Spending a few minutes during adoration in church to let God speak to you? Taking time to really, patiently listen to your children, spouse or co-worker? Take time and let the Holy Spirit enter your thoughts so your actions are more Christ-like. It’s a joy filled stress reliever. Perhaps you’d like to find out more about our friendly group of Vincentians here at St Andrew. Our next meeting is this Tuesday, February 12th at 7PM in the church offices.

ST. ANDREW THE APOSTLE

PROJECT GABRIEL

Since 2010 Project Gabriel here at St. Andrew’s has had the privilege and joy of working with pregnant mothers who are in difficult situations. Our Lord in the past has entrusted these pregnant mothers and their unborn babies to us to reveal His Love and gentle care for them by walking with them, helping them where we can but mostly just letting them know that in the midst of their difficult situation, they need not be alone – we are willing to walk this difficult but joyful road with them. I say “joyful” because the life of each and every unborn baby is a gift from God and is a joy! This is where you, the beautiful parishioners of St. Andrew’s, come into the picture. If anyone knows of a pregnant mother in need, please, especially, if she is considering abortion, give her our phone number at St. Andrew’s and someone will give her a call back. No pregnant mother ever needs to feel she is alone – God always provides a loving hand to those who reach out to Him, and we would like to be that loving hand. Thank you for your allowing yourselves to be instruments in the Lord’s Hands by lovingly communicating to any pregnant mother you may know who is in a difficult situation that we do care and would consider it a joy to do what we can to help. We will accept all pregnant mothers providing they are within a reasonable distance which we can travel to. They need not be Catholic – they can be of other denominations or of no religion at all. Whatever their faith beliefs – or no faith belief – we will accept them. They can call Barb at St. Andrew’s at 815-886-4165, ext. 308 and leave their name and phone number. Within twenty four hours they will receive a call back. Thank you for your prayerful consideration of this. We need your help as we are all in this together. The lives of these precious little ones and also the lives of these pregnant mothers are counting on our loving help! May the Child Jesus in His Loving Mother’s arms, richly bless you and your loved ones!

Modlitwa za małżeństwo

Panie, przedstawiam Ci nasze małżeństwo – mojego męża (moją żonę) i mnie. Dziękuję, że nas połączyłeś, że

podarowałeś nas sobie nawzajem i umocniłeś nasz związek swoim sakramentem. Panie, w tej chwili nasze małżeństwo nie

jest takie, jakim Ty chciałbyś je widzieć. Potrzebuje uzdrowienia.

Uwielbiam

Cię w sercu i błogosławię w całym moim życiu. Amen.

Amen.

WE CAN STILL USE NEW CATECHISTS!!! Read an inspiring story about a current one!

“We need Catechists.” Hmmm, kind of a scary thought not knowing if I would be good enough to teach our young people about our faith and our Lord. It is a serious responsibility and after much thought decided to see if I was suited to be a Catechist. I never thought that I would enjoy the experience as much as I did. I was assigned 5th grade initially and was very apprehensive but said a prayer and jumped in. The students were so eager to learn about God and His love that I not only taught them but learned from them as well. I now am teaching 2nd graders and am thankful that St. Andrew’s Faith Formation has trusted and supported me with this important mission to teach students about our beautiful faith. Join the Faith Formation team and find that you will get more than you give. Our Catechist family welcomes you!! Ruby Lee, parishioner since 1966.

If you are interested in getting more information, check out our website at www.andrewcc.org or

contact Mrs. Albreski at [email protected] or 815-886-5953 x 421 to set up a tour. We are currently taking preregistrations to hold your child(ren)’s spot for the 2019-20 school year. Scholarships and Grants applications are now

open. The Invest in Kids Scholarship. Visit https://

empowerillinois.org/students/how-do-i-apply/ for more details about the two-step application process. Current scholarship recipients and students who ap-

plied in 2018-19 and are currently on the waitlist must reapply.

The Catholic Education Foundation(CEF) for the Di-ocese of Joliet distributes hundreds of need-based schol-arships each year. Students K-12 are eligible to apply for financial assistance to help cover the cost of tuition. You can apply athttps://online.factsmgt.com/signin/3D8S9. Anyone requesting financial assistance from the Catholic Education Foundation or from one of the St. Andrew Scholarships must fill out the application through the FACTS Grant and Aid Company. The Bartel Scholarship (grades 1-8) and the Malchow Scholarship (grades K-8) will be determined by the Facts application, and the Knights of Columbus Scholarship (PK-8) re-quires you to fill out their application.

The CEF scholarships from the Diocese of Joliet will be determined after the tax credit scholarships are granted. To be eligible for the local scholarships through St. An-drew School and the CEF scholarships, you must have a COMPLETED application updated on FACTS by March 1, 2019. The Knights of Columbus Scholarship must be turned in by April 15, 2019. The Knights of Columbus paperwork can be picked up in the school office.

The CEF also offers transfer grants for students who transfer in from a public school or a private school out-side of the Diocese of Joliet. They offer $1,000 for the first year, and $500 for the second. Contact the school office if you have any questions. 815-886-5953 x420 or x421. Call 815-886-5953 x421 or x420 with any questions.

Upcoming Gala Donation Request The staff and students of St. Andrew the Apostle School would like to request a donation for the School’s upcoming Eighth Annual Gala on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Crystal Grand Banquets, in Lem-ont, IL. We hope that this year’s event will raise vital funds needed for enhancements to our social studies and science curriculums as well as much needed up-dates in the student restrooms. Last year, the money raised was used to purchase new water fountains with bottle fill up stations along with equipment and materials for both continued development of our STEM program and a new library.

We anticipate approximately 200 St. Andrew school parents, parishioners, and Romeoville residents will be in attendance for this event. It would be greatly appreciated if you would consider a tax-deductible donation to be used for our Silent or Live Auction. In the past, we have received donations such as res-taurant gift certificates, wine baskets, toys, theme park tickets, and even a set of oil paintings. On behalf of our Pastor, Father Maciej, our princi-pal, Mrs. Albreski, along with the faculty, the staff, and all of the school families of St. Andrew the Apostle, we thank you for your time and considera-tion. If you have any questions about this event, please contact Theresa Czaja at [email protected].

815-886-4165 X308 or [email protected]

BAPTISM OF CHILDREN We joyfully celebrate the Baptism of children on the third Sunday of the month at 1:30 p.m. The requirements are: to be registered in the parish and have an active participation in our parish community for at least 3 months. Register at the parish office for the Baptismal prep class, which is held on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m., in the school hall. It is important to notify the parish office with the date that you will be attending the class.

FIRST COMMUNION AND CONFIRMATION

Please see page 9 in the bulletin for Faith Formation information regarding preparation for these important sacraments.

MARRIAGE REQUIREMENTS

Diocese requirements include a formal engagement preparation period of at least six months before the date of the weddings and attendance in a marriage preparation program. St. Andrew requires either the bridge, groom, or parents of either to be registered as parishioners for at least three months before contacting us to set a date. There are a number of additional requirements. Please contact the Parish Office for additional information.

FUNERALS

Arrangements for a funeral are usually made through the Funeral Director at a funeral home of your choice.

PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK

Hospitals do not inform churches when parishioners are patients. You should ask an immediate family member to contact the Parish Office to request a visit from a priest when sickness occurs or death is imminent. Please contact Barb Sanders to arrange for Communion to be brought to the sick at home, to a hospital, or nursing home.

I would like to have my house blessed.

Please contact me to make arrangements.
