Frame every so-called disaster with these words In five years, will this matter?Always choose life. Forgive everyone everything. What other people think of you is none of your business. Time heals almost everything. Give time. However good or bad a situation is, it will change. Dont take yourself so seriously. No one else does. Believe in miracles. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didnt do. Dont audit life. Show up and make the most of it now. Growing old beats the alternative - dying young. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone elses, wed grab ours back. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need. The best is yet to come. No matter how you feel, get up, dress and show up. Life isnt tied with a bow, but its still a gift. All Saints and All Souls Tomorrow and on Saturday, we celebrate All Saints and All Souls. We keep in our prayers all those who have gone before us who are now at eternal rest with Christ by their side.

Some Good Advice From a 90 Year Old To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 40 lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I’ve ever written (by Regina Brett, 90 years of age).

My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more: ◊ Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good. ◊ When in doubt, just take the next small step. ◊ Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. ◊ Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch. ◊ Pay off your credit cards every month. ◊ You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree. ◊ Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone. ◊ It’s OK to get angry with God. He can take it. ◊ Save for retirement starting with your first pay cheque. ◊ When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile. ◊ Make peace with your past so it won’t spoil the present. ◊ It’s OK to let your children see you cry. ◊ Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about. ◊ Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don’t worry; God never blinks. ◊ Take a deep breath. It calms the mind. ◊ Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful. ◊ Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger. ◊ It’s never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else. ◊ When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer. ◊ Over prepare, and then go with the flow. ◊ Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple. ◊ No one is in charge of your happiness but you. ◊ Frame every so-called disaster with these words “In five years, will this matter?” ◊ Always choose life. ◊ Forgive everyone everything. ◊ What other people think of you is none of your business. ◊ Time heals almost everything. Give time. ◊ However good or bad a situation is, it will change. ◊ Don’t take yourself so seriously. Religious Education

Sunday, 3 November 2019: Thirty First Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year C Gospel Lk 19:1-10 Jesus enters the house of Zacchaeus. Have you thought? – Conversion When we hear this story about Zacchaeus, our focus is normally on the conversion of heart that appears to take place within Zaccheaus. However, his determination to see Jesus from the outset suggests that the conversion has already taken place within Zacchaeus. It is the muttering, grumbling crowd who are called to conversion; called to soften their hearts and see a faithful man where they have previously only seen a sinner. Throughout the gospel, the welcome and acceptance Jesus extends to the ‘outsider’ and the ‘sinner’ confronts and challenges those who would hold themselves up as being better than these others.

All Saints and All Souls Day

1st and 2nd November As we celebrate the Feast of All Saints, we remember all the saints in heaven who continue to interceding for our petitions here on earth. On Saturday, the Feast of All Souls Day let us take a moment in our busy day to pray for our loved ones who have gone before us.

Happy birthday to members of our St Angela’s community who will celebrate their birthday this coming week;

St Angela’s Castle Hill Celebrates

Grandparent’s Day Tomorrow Friday 1st November

Commencing at 8:45am St Angela's School Community invites all grandparents to join us for a celebration of joy and thanksgiving to honour the gift of grandparents to our children. We hope that this day will continue to strengthen the bonds grandparents have with their grandchildren and nurture the unique tradi-tion that we share in each family. Program outline:

8:45am Morning assembly/Prayer of thanksgiving for our grandparents

Classroom visits to join in learning activities with the children

Morning tea in the St Maximilian school hall This is a wonderful event and is a highlight of our calendar for all grand-parents who enjoy visiting the school. As a large number of visitors are anticipated we ask that you bring in a plate to share for morning tea if you have a grandparent at-tending. Your contribution can be left in the hall on Thursday after-noon, 31st October or the morning of Friday 1st November. Morning tea/catering arrangements: The morning tea will be in the hall and we kindly ask families to assist with the catering. It would be appreciated if goodies are provided on disposable plates and ready to serve (nut free please). To ensure a balance of food items -

all yellow classes (K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6) are kindly asked to bring cakes, scones or pikelets, slices

all blue classes (K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6) are kindly asked to bring sandwiches and wraps

all green classes (K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6) are kindly asked to bring savouries, dips or cheese & biscuits.

Families with more than one child at school are only required to provide one plate of whichever category they would like to choose. Although we have lots of seating, any additional fold up chairs etc. would be benefi-cial as we are certainly expecting a large number of visitors. If you are able to assist in setting up, serving or packing up, please contact the office or volunteer on the day. Parking To assist with our elderly visitors, the Kiss and Drop may also be used for grandparents to be dropped off. Additionally all car parking at the front of the school and around the hall will be made available for elderly who have restricted mobility etc. (ie. disabled parking).

We will celebrate Remembrance Day on Monday 11th November. We keep in our thoughts and prayers on

this day all those who died at war in the name of peace. We will pause and reflect at 11.00 with a short prayer ceremony.

Parents are welcome to attend.

To be held at Oakhill College Benildus Hall For tickets: https://www.trybooking.com/book/eventeid=541390& or contact Church Office 9629 2595

FINAL GENERAL PARENT MEETING FOR 2019 THIS COMING WEDNESDAY 6th NOVEMBER

AT 7:00PM AGENDA

Prayer & Welcome Review minutes of last meeting Committee Reports Naplan feedback 2019 in Review 2020 Future Planning Come along and join us for our final General Parent Meeting for the year. All are welcome.

Theme for the Week: “Work, Rest and Play”

Our children’s days (as with adults) alternate between work, rest and play. Unfortunately balancing these three important areas is indeed a challenge. For most the main area that research seems to indicate as suffering is the ’rest’ component. Many children tend to avoid

sleep or don’t get enough of it. Lack of sleep perpetuates itself in a child who lacks concentration, is always tired and doesn't have the energy to do their best. Why not take time to discuss and revise bed

times.

Mission Markets This term, Year 5 are learning to identify and create practical ways in which they can share Jesus’ mission to the poor and oppressed. Their PBL project this term asks them to answer the following driving question: How can we as missionaries live out the message of Jesus by investigating the Jesuit Refugee Service and other organisations in order to create an initiative that will support the JRS? In response to this, the students will be presenting their initiatives at “The Mission Markets” at lunchtime during Mission Week. (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of Week 5). All St Angela’s students are invited to purchase a ‘Mission Week Card’ that includes 10 opportunities to participate in various stall activities. Each opportunity is 50c each or a whole card is $5. Parents are welcome to visit the markets between 1:30-2:00pm on Thursday 14th November. All proceeds raised will go directly to the JRS to support their work with refugees.

Friday 15th November is a Staff Development/

Student Pupil Free Day. Staff will gather for professional learning in the

Key Learning Area of Spiritual formation.

Parramatta Diocesan Team Sport Trials are OPEN ALL 2020 Team Sport Trials are OPEN, however, the Summer Sports of BASKETBALL & TENNIS registrations close for these sports only on Monday 11th November as these trials will be held in November 2019. All other sports trials will be held in Term One & Two in 2020. Any Primary students enrolled in Year 5 and 6 in 2020 are invited to participate in the Parramatta Diocesan Team Sport Trials. It is important to note that these trials are generally for those children who display an above-average ability and/or have representative experience in their chosen sport. While teams are open in age it is strongly recommended that only children of a representative standard in Years 5 & 6 in 2020 be invited to attend. Parramatta Diocesan trials will be held in the following sports: AFL, Basketball, Cricket, Hockey, Football, Hockey, Netball, Rugby League (11yrs & Opens), Rugby Union, Softball, Tennis & Touch football. The sports of Diving & Golf will be held at the MacKillop level. To be eligible for selection for these trials an Online Team Registration Form must be completed that can be accessed http://www.primarysportparra.catholic.edu.au/en/Representative-Selections This online form is an EXPRESSION OF INTEREST for the 2020 ParramattaDiocesan Primary Sport Team trials. Parents may complete this form to attend a selection trial. One form is to be completed per child, per individual sport. Each sport has its own criteria, therefore, it is imperative that the correct form is completed. Please note that your online registration is an EXPRESSION OF INTEREST ONLY and MUST be approved by the child's school. In order for the child to attend the nominated trial or event, this may come down to the discretion of the school as to who is selected to attend the trial. In some sports, only 2 students per school can be nominated. All fields and especially “RepresentativeExperience” MUST be completed. A child will not be eligible to trial if the Online Registration Form has not been completed and approved by the school by the closing date

Year 4 Fizzics Incursion On Wednesday 23rd October, students in Year 4 enjoyed a full day of Science experiments. They made solar ovens and investigated how heat is transferred through conduction, convection and radiation. There was quite a lot of popcorn consumed! Each class also participated in a workshop with Fizzics Education where they investigated electrical energy production from renewable and non-renewable resources.
