Upcoming Events & Announcements

Catechetical Sunday

All Catechists in our school and church community are

invited to the 8 a.m. Mass on Sept. 18 to receive a special

blessing from Fr. McCarthy and to rededicate themselves to

this special mission of handing on their faith and being a

witness to the Gospel.

Council of Catholic Women Kickoff Meeting

The St. Anne Council of Catholic Women will meet Tue.,

Sept. 20 from 5:45 to 8 p.m. in the St. Cecilia Room. All

ladies of the parish are invited to join. Annual dues are $15.

Call Anne Lester at 706-662-9029 for more info.

RCIA Starts in September

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is the process for

people thinking about becoming Catholic. By attending

weekly gatherings with like-minded individuals, you are able

to discern for yourself if Catholicism is right for you.

The 2016-2017 RCIA program at St. Anne Church begins

Wed., Sept. 21. Classes will meet weekly from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

in the church (updated location). Learn more about RCIA and

register online: stannecsg.com/RCIA.

A Very Special Event

We have invited the Society of Saint James the Apostle to

send one of their Latin American Missionaries to our parish

next weekend—Sept. 24/25—as part of our special appeal for

the South American Missions. Founded by Cardinal Cushing

in 1958, members of the Society are diocesan priests, from

English speaking countries, who work with the exceptionally

poor in Peru and Ecuador. Please be as generous as your

means allow to help those less fortunate. Learn more online

about the Society of St. James: socstjames.com.

Diocesan Intercollegiate Retreat

Attention college students: Make plans to attend the 2016

Diocesan Intercollegiate Retreat: SANCTUS - Saints &

Sinners! Enjoy inspiring talks from a variety of speakers,

explore the trails of Camp John Hope or go kayaking in a 30-

acre lake. Enter into prayer through personal reflection,

praise and worship, Mass, Adoration and Confession. Enjoy

fun, fellowship, dancing and bonfires with young adults from

all over Georgia. Visit diosav.org/campusministry-retreat for

registration information for the Oct. 14-16 retreat.

Rachel’s Vineyard

If you have feelings of grief, anxiety, guilt, depression,

emotional or spiritual problems due to a past abortion, know

that you are not alone. Help and healing are available

through the Rachel’s Vineyard post-abortion ministry. For

more information, contact the confidential line for Rachel’s

Vineyard at 912-201-4059, email [email protected], or

visit the website rachelsvineyard.org . The next Rachel’s

Vineyard Retreat is Oct. 21-23, near Augusta, GA.

Baptism Class

Parents wishing to have their children baptized at our parish

must attend a Baptism Class. Our next Baptism Class is Sun.,

Oct. 30 in the Youth Room at 11:30 a.m. Pre-registration

required; register online at stannecsg.com/sacraments or by

calling the Parish Office at 706-561-8678.

Spotlight on Stewardship

September 18, 2016 Stewardship Reflection “No servant can serve two masters. He will hate one

and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise

the other. You cannot serve God and mammon

(wealth).” LUKE 16:13

Is money a “god” that you put before God? Giving

money to support the Church and other charities is a

pillar of our Faith, just like attending Mass every

Sunday and participating in parish ministry. Giving

money frees us from being a slave to money and

increases our dependence on God and to trust that

He will provide all that we need.

Ministry Spotlight

Tender Loving Comforters

The Tender Loving Comforters (TLC) are here for you!

The TLC and Good Neighbor ministries have merged

and are expanding in order to minister to and care for

more St. Anne parishioners, particularly those

experiencing the joy and chaos of new life and the

grief of a loss. This fantastic group will prepare and

deliver meals to bereaved St. Anne families around

the time of a wake or funeral, to St. Anne families

welcoming a new baby, and to St. Anne parishioners

recovering from illness or major surgery.

If you are in need of assistance from the TLC ministry,

please let us know by calling the Parish Office at

706-561-8678.

St. Anne Community Outreach

St. Anne Community Outreach is open Mon.-Thurs.

from 8:30 a.m. to Noon and the third weekend of

each month before/after all Masses to accept

donations. The Item of the Month for September is

Toothbrushes.
