what would you say?
What’s one thing you could do this week

Kaboom! Friday the 19th was the annual St. Anne-hosted middle school dance. Thanks to the enthusiastic
parent and teacher volunteers and 250 well raised student dancers from St. Anne and neighboring Cath-
olic schools, Banchero Hall is still standing. And thanks to the leadership of school parents, Catherine
Porciuncula, Carrie Vanderslice and 7th grade teacher, Sean Haffey, St. Anne’s reputation as having the
best middle school dance continues.
It’s a kick. CYO soccer. Winners: 4th, 5

Need Adult Help With 10 am Mass Programs for Kids
During our 10 am Mass every Sunday, we offer two special programs for our children ages 3-10. Our
Children’s Liturgy program offers the kids the opportunity to hear the readings in their own language and
to reflect on the meaning. After this short 15 minute process, young people ages 3-6 are welcome to stay
and learn more about the readings. We need 4 – 5 additional adult leaders to help with this important
ministry for our children. Please contact Mike @ 206-282-0223 or [email protected].
Help Wanted – Groundskeeper Position
St. Anne Church & School are looking for a part time

per week for 6 hours each day. If interested, contact
Rich Santi at 206-282-0223.

All Souls Day Prayer Service, November 2, 7:00 pm
and Our Altar of Remembrance
On All Souls Day, this Friday, November 2, there will be a special evening Prayer Service at 7:00 pm
in the church for us to remember and honor our loved ones who have died. Everyone is invited to
bring pictures and mementoes of their lives to be placed on our Altar of Remembrance. As before, our
Altar will be under the crucifix in the church. These pictures can then remain there for all of Novem-
ber and be a sacred place in the midst of our community. Also by this Altar will be our parish Book of
the Dead for you to enter the names of those who have died. If anyone needs transportation to the
Prayer Service, please do not hesitate to call the church office at 206-282-0223 and let us know.

Parish
Life
Are you—or is someone you know—
interested in learning about what is involved
in becoming Catholic? RCIA is the process
that helps those who have never been bap-
tized, and those who have been baptized in
other Christian traditions, discern their call
to become a member of the Catholic
Church. The group meets throughout the
year to learn about Catholic teaching, tradi-
tions, prayer and life. RCIA is not a course
or program, but rather a process where par-
ticipants can openly ask questions and ex-
plore specific areas. For further information

Widowed, Divorced or Separated?
If you are ready to deal with grief of being wid-
owed, divorced, or separated, there is help.
As a faith-based organization, Beginning Experi-
ence offers men and women the opportunity and
skills to build deeper self-respect, to cope with the
pain of loss, and to move into the future with re-
newed hope. Join us for a weekend away for a
lifetime of change—available twice a year, in the
spring and fall. This coming fall’s Puget Sound
area weekend is Friday-Sunday, November 2-4, at
the Gwinwood Conference Center, Lacey. Please
call Chris, our Beginning Experience registrar, at
253-223-2645 for more information and a bro-
chure.
Please join us for donuts, coffee and
juice after 10:00 an Mass each Sun-
day in Banchero Hall. Everyone is
welcome! We also need volunteers
to help with set up and serving cof-
fee and donuts. For information, contact Judy
Vitzthum, 206-282-0223.
The Catholic Bishops of Washington State have given their endorsement
to Initiative 1639, which would strengthen gun sale background checks, require
safety training, extend waiting periods for semi-automatic weapons, and establish safe-
storage conditions. I-1639 would also prohibit the sale of assault rifles to anyone under
the age of 21. Acknowledging the importance of individual liberties such as gun own-
ership and the right to self-defense, the statement highlights at the same time a duty to
seek to ensure a higher level of public safety. The Bishops also stressed the need “to
confront the root causes that can accompany gun-related violence,” including conditions such as addiction,
mental illness, poverty, and the graphic displays of violence so common in entertainment and video games.
The complete statement can be found at: www.WACatholics.org or by link on our parish website.
Thank You Damian and Gerry Flynn
Stewards of Hospitality and Welcome are retiring
Can anyone count how many cups of coffee you’ve received from the hands of Dami-
an Flynn? Or the ‘Good Mornings’ wished you by Gerry, to go with your donuts?
Today we lift high our juice glasses and raise a toast (bagel? muffin?) to this amazing
pair who have lost count of how many years they have been hosting our Sunday cof-
fee hour. Even more than for your countless hours of setting up, serving, and clean-
ing up after us, we give you two – and your loving family! - our deepest thanks for
your faithfulness and friendliness in this ministry of hospitality. It’s not possible to guess how many visitors
have encountered Jesus in your warm welcome... and decided to stay because of it. Well done, Gerry and
Damian. Thank you!
