St. Anne School Family Newsletter February 11, 2015 Dear St. Anne Parents, There are (at least) two special events that are on the minds of our students and staff as I write this. One is last Thursday night’s Confirmation. Bishop Walsh confirmed our Catholic school students as well as the Catholic students of the parish. The non-Catholic students were there actively supporting their classmates. They, along with the entire seventh grade, served as the choir under the very able direction of J.R. Jaldon. I know that all of you join me in congratulating the Confirmandi and thanking all the students who participated so joyfully in the service, as well as Ms. Kelly who put so much effort into preparing the both the students and the Mass. She, along with all of our teachers, has a double role as both an educator and a spiritual guide. It is a special joy of Catholic education, but also a responsibility that we take very seriously. The second major event in the air today is tomorrow’s Grandparents’ Day. This has become a tradition at our school and one in which students and teachers plan together what activities will be shared in the classroom. Walking through the halls, you hear discussions of various activities and see the excitement of the children knowing their grandparents will be visiting. From the third graders practicing their entertainment at recess to the eighth grade group carefully making the welcome poster, there is anticipation. We love having the grandparents here and hope the day is as special for the grandparents as it is for their grandchildren. This day and our other special activities are held because we are more than a place for academic education; we are a school community that supports growth in all areas, as our mission and philosophy state. School Closed – February 16 In observance of President’s Day we will be closed. School will resume Tuesday, February 17. Service Hours Due – February 17 Parent Service Hour records should be turned in to the school office by Tuesday, Feb. 17. Mrs. Perez will record your service hours and then return your Record Cards back to you via your youngest child on Wednesday, Feb. 25. Please remember we cannot approve service hours for donated items. For more information, please refer to our Parent Handbook. Ash Wednesday – February 18 Lent season begins! Please join us for Mass at 8:45. All students must be in full dress uniform. Pop Warner Scholastic Awards Congratulations to Jacob Kleppin (4-2) who received two very prestigious awards Monday night. Jacob was inducted into the Pop Warner Football Scholastic Hall of Fame for his report card grades and extracurricular activities that are not sports related. The other was for making Scholastic All-American 1 st Team. We congratulate Jacob for a job well done.
