May 26 ~ Sixth Sunday of Easter; Brief Thought
In our first reading, we hear more about the growing
pains of the early Church. The Apostles were doing some-
thing that had never been before, building a community of
believers in Jesus Christ, Son of God. There were bound to
be misunderstandings and differences of opinion. Even to-
day, as the Church of Boston focuses on strengthening evan-
gelization efforts and spreading the Good News of Jesus
Christ people are hesitant to put their faith into action. Jesus’
words in today’s Gospel sustained the early Church, and
they must sustain us also: “Do not let your hearts be troubled
or afraid.” Rely on the Holy Spirit – the Advocate – who is
still with us.
St. Anthony Feast & Festa Junina, June 8
Reserve the date for St. Anthony Festival and Festa
Junina (St. John) that will be celebrated on Saturday, June
8th. We will begin with the celebration of the Holy Mass at
3:00 pm, following with the procession at 4:00 pm and start-
ing with the festivities at 5:00 pm. Everyone is invited.
Please note that there will not be the 7:00 pm Mass
This year’s grand raffle will be a 2016 Hyundai Elantra
GT automobile. We have tickets for sale for $20 each at the
rectory. Or take the opportunity to buy your ticket after the

Antonio / Festa Junina (San Giovanni). Inizieremo con la
celebrazione della Santa Messa alle 15:00, seguendola con la
processione alle 16:00 e iniziando i festeggiamenti alle 17:00.
Tutti sono invitati a partecipare.
Sorteggio: la grande lotteria consiste di un'auto Hyundai

Fr. Milani
Fr. Olmes Milani CS, is a Scalabrinian missionary
born in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. He is
the first of eight children of a couple of Italian de-
scendants. At very young age he entered the semi-
nary because he wanted to become a priest. He did
study in Brazil and was ordained to the priesthood on
the 15th of December 1975; He will be celebrating his
45th anniversary of ordination at the end of 2019.
Just after the ordination, he spent a few months in
Argentina where he learned to speak his third lan-
guage, Spanish. Next he was sent to Vancouver, BC,
Canada to learn English. His first missionary assign-
ment was in Edmonton, Alta, Canada. From Edmon-
ton, was transferred to the US, first in Chicago and
then to Melrose Park, Ill.
At the end of 1985 the General administration of
the Scalabrini Missionaries assigned him to work for
seafarers out of the Santos Harbor in Brazil where he
served for 16 years. From Santos, Brazil, Fr. Milani
was sent to open a new Scalabrinian mission in Japan,
living in Tokyo. There he was part the staff of the
CTIC (Catholic Tokyo International Center and then
director). After 9 years in the Far East, he served for 2
years as a parish priest and director of the Migrants
Pastoral Center for migrants for 2 years, in Cuibá city,
BrazilI.
Although officially retired as of 2011 he remained
very active. Again, in January 2015 he was sent to the
United Arabs Emirates to work for the Apostleship of
the Sea and Saint Mary’s Church in Dubai.
Fr. Milani arrived at our parish on May 10th, 2019,
to serve as a vicar. We are confident that he will serve
the four communities of Saint Anthony’s Church, Ev-
erett, with dedication and perseverance, using his
knowledge of English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Ital-
ian.
