Prayer after receiving Holy Eucharist:

ANIMA CHRISTI

Soul of Christ sanctify me; Body of Christ Save me; Blood of Christ inebriate me; Water from the side of Christ wash me; Passion of Christ strengthen me. O good Jesus hear me; Within Your wounds hide me; At the hour of my death call me; And bid me come to You That with Your saints I may praise you forever. Amen.

The Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) is our program for providing those who seek to become part of the Catholic Church instruction about our faith.

The program begins in late September and ends at the Easter Vigil where participants receive the sacrament of baptism or make a profession of faith and receive the sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist. Participants should be 17 years old or older. Contact Deacon Alan Hungate at 602-228-7234 for information about RCIA.

JAMAICA MISSION INFORMATION

This year's team to the missions in Jamaica will be leaving on January 27, 2020 and returning on February 3, 2020.

On the weekend of January 11 - 12, the diocese and Father Michael have given us permission to raise funds for the Missionaries of the Poor in Kingston to help with the restoration of their men's residence house. The residence house burned down a few months ago, and the Brothers and Sisters are rebuilding the facility. It is very expensive and the men are now living in the clinic. There will be a second collection that weekend at all Masses for donations to take directly to the Brothers and Sisters of the Poor when the team travels to Jamaica.

As always, we thank you for your continued generosity to the Jamaica missions these many years that a team from Saint Bernard's has gone. You have made it possible to help so many men, women, and children who otherwise, would have nothing, nobody, and nowhere to live. The team is very grateful and the missions persevere in building up the Kingdom of God.

CARMELITE INFORMATION NIGHT

The Lay Carmelite Community of St. Therese’s Little Way at Christ the King Church in Mesa cordially invites you to come and explore the “Carmelite Way of Life” at our annual information Night on Monday, January 27, 2020.

Share a brief and casual evening with some of our members and learn the “who, what and why” of Lay Carmelites including our history, our place and service in the Church and how we change lives.

Learn first-hand from members of our Community how we strive to live a life in the presence of God while living out our state in life as single and married lay people with jobs, families and day to day life responsibilities.

If you have a desire to grow closer to Jesus by enhancing or developing a meaningful prayer life while increasing your devotion to Mary, our Blessed Mother, then a Lay Carmelite way of life could be what God is calling you to. Please join us on January 27th from 7:00pm to 8:00pm.

Safe Environment News

All Volunteers in any Parish Ministry please note: Good News! The Office of Safe Environment has extended the deadline for training completion until January 31st, because the reconstruction of the site caused many problems with access. If you are in need of renewal please complete your training before January 31st or you will be automatically kicked out of the system and you will need to start all over again with the foundation. There are many changes to the safe environment process in the Diocese of Phoenix this year. There are fliers in the Church foyer, the Parish Office and our Website (under Parish Ministries) with an explanation of how to access the new training website. Please follow the instructions when signing in, especially if you are in need of renewal. Thank you to all who have completed or are in the process of completing their training. I appreciate your patience this past month with the new site, however this training has been due since July 1st. I am happy to help anyone who is struggling to create an account with CMG or having trouble completing their renewal or foundation class when I can. Many of these problems I have not been able to help with, as I have been shut out of the system too at times. I will be out of the Office from January 8th through the 18th, so please contact me after the 20th at the Parish Office 480-661-9843 ex 309 if you have any problems or questions. My contact information is also on the flier. For those who do not have computers I will be happy to help you set up an account through a parish computer. Please have patience with all the changes. Together, we will complete all the necessary steps to help keep St. Bernard’s a safe environment for all and hopefully you will begin the process earlier, so that we are not overwhelmed during the Christmas Season. Kathie Stine, Safe Environment Coordinator
