St. Bridget University Parish Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time September 25, 2016

A Letter from Nina Camaioni I was recently watching on Youtube an interview with Jim Caviezel, the actor who portrayed Jesus in the re-nowned film The Passion of the Christ. At one point, Jim turns to the audience and with such passion tells them “You were not made to fit in, you were born to stand out.” I was so inspired by this video, I just wanted to share some thoughts with the St. Bridget University Parish family. God calls each and every one of us to be excellent in the practice and living out our faith, not medio-cre. He wants all of you, not just bits and pieces. He wants everything – the good, the bad and the ugly – because He loves you. In the second reading today, St. Paul writes to Timothy, “Compete well for the faith" (1 Tim 6:12). Our faith and our relationship with Jesus are nurtured every day through prayer, the sac-raments, community, and the Word of God. We are called to "pursue righteousness, devotion, faith, love, patience and gentleness.” (1 Tim 6:11). In turn, we must live it out in our families, our community, at the uni-versity, and amongst the poor through love, generosity and self-sacrifice. So don't fit in, but stand out. Be courageous. Give it all over to Jesus and do not settle but be all that you were made to be!

September is Healthy Aging Month Here are a few tips to keep you safe and healthy:

Get your gutters cleaned. Improper drainage can lead to

slippery leaves and icy patches in the winter months.

Check for loose tiles, flooring and molding which could

be a tripping hazard.

Do you have “round to it” things piling up on the floor or

teetering off a counter? Tackle them before they tackle you.

Grab bars are easily installed and can provide stability

especially in the bathroom.

In the fading of the summer sun, the shortening of days, cooling breeze,

swallows' flight and moonlight rays

We see the Creator’s hand

Stewards Serve God “No servant can serve two masters. He will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (wealth).” LUKE 16:13

Is money a “god” that you put before God? Giving

money to support the Church and other charity develops

stewardship and is a pillar of our faith, just like attending

Mass every Sunday and participating in parish ministry.

Giving money frees us from being a slave to money and

increases our dependence on God and to trust that He will

provide all that we need.

Thank you for your generosity

Thank you to everyone who has already given gener-ously to the 2016 House of Charity Bishop's Annual Appeal. We are all called to be instruments of God's mercy.

We invite all parishioners who have not already done so to support the programs and ministries of the Diocese of Camden by making a pledge to this year's campaign. We ask anyone who received the mailing from the Diocese to return your pledge to the parish office. Additional cards are available in the back of the church.

Our parish goal is $65,679, of which we have re-ceived $76,669. Please pray about this and make your pledge .

Ministry The Women of Grace Ministry will be starting up a new group this fall. The information meeting is scheduled for

Tuesday, September 27 at 7:00 PM at the Parish Center. Contact Roseann at 609-420-5715. Come join us to discover what "feminine genius" means

to you as an integral member of the Catholic Church.

St. John Neumann Traveling Reliquary

St. Bridget University Parish is excited to be the first recipient church of the traveling reliquary of St. John Neu-mann. This reliquary, which is the size of a small trunk, contains 1st, 2nd and 3rd class relics of St. John Neumann. He was

the Bishop of Philadelphia and at that time his territory stretched into this area of New Jersey. After his death in 1860, faithful people visited his grave and many, many people have received miracles through his interces-sion. The relics will be available for veneration in St. Bridget Church after the 4:30 PM Mass on September 24 and after the 8:30 AM, 10:30 AM and 1:00 PM Masses on Sunday, September 25. There will also be a priest from the Shrine of St. John Neumann in Philadelphia speaking and available for questions after all Masses. Please join us!!

A Ti celestial princesa, Vir-
