Regular meetings of the St Davidrsquos Welsh Socie-ty of the Suncoast are now held at noon on the third Tuesday of the month from October to April at St Dunstanrsquos Anglican Church A pot-luck luncheon and program entertain all persons with an interest in celebrating Welsh heritage We have great fun so bring a friend to socialize (They do not even have to be Welsh to be wel-come) This will be the 76th year of the existence of the St Davidrsquos Welsh Society of the Suncoast Not many can equal that record
Dont forget the next meeting on February 18 Our own Susan Biel will present a program on Gems and Minerals Around the World Susan is a gemologist who has graciously agreed to share her expertise We look forward to seeing every-one there Remember that March brings St Davidrsquos Day The banquet this year will be on his actual daymdashMarch 1st and is our only meeting this month The committee reminds you to send in your res-ervation form found in this newsletter) as soon as possible The committee guarantees a lovely evening with musical entertainments to please everyone

According to Wikipedia Welsh rabbit (original spelling) or Welsh rarebit (spelling based on folk etymology) is a traditional Welsh dish made with a savoury sauce of melted cheese and various other ingredients and served hot after being poured over slices (or other pieces) of toasted bread or served in a chafing dish like a fondue More often described with suffixes or choice of extras on menus variants have been named English rabbit Scotch rabbit buck rab-bit golden buck blushing bunny and in some parts of France it is known as leun Welsh The names of the dish originate from 18th-century Britain but the dish contains no rabbit meat

Minutes of January 2020 Meeting
The meeting was called to order at 1220 pm by
President James Nine members and two guests
were present After opening prayer by Kelfryn
James the Pledge of Allegiance to the American
flag and singing of the Welsh National Anthem in
Welsh President James welcomed all to the buf-
fet table for lunch
Reports Membership chair Nancy Mellican an-
nounced 30 paid members Treasurer Connie
Osmulski reported that there is $383961 in our
treasury
Emil Veltre our Facebook page creator an-
nounced that the site has achieved the 25 hits
required to allow it to be actively accessed
The meeting was turned over to the Banquet
Committee Chair Wendy Whittaker reported that
the harpist Victoria Garcia has been engaged
Jean suggested asking Clark Parry to provide the
invocation and benediction ndash Barbara will call
Clark Cyndi Parry to again head the silent auc-
tion with the assistance of Barbara Giraldi
Shirley Hand will bring a keyboard and play for
singing and provide some piano music before the
harpist arrives Shirley is being provided with
songbook and other music selections by Wendy
and Jean Treasurer Connie will continue to take
care of tickets meal cards name tags and table
decorations Jean James will be master of cere-
monies
Jean asked for a volunteer to provide a program
for the February meeting There being no further
business to come before the meeting it was ad-
journed with singing of God By With You Till We
Meet Again and benediction by Kelfryn James
