LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR The Little Sisters of the Poor are an international congregation of Roman Catholic women religious founded in 1839 by Saint Jeanne Jugan. Together with a diverse network of collaborators, they serve the elderly poor in over 30 countries around the world. Continuing the work of Saint Jeanne Jugan, their MISSION is to offer the neediest elderly of every race and religion a home where they will be welcomed as Christ, cared for as family and accompanied with dignity until God calls them to himself. Their VISION is to contribute to the Culture of Life by nurturing communities where each person is valued, the solidarity of the human family and the wisdom of age are celebrated, and the compassionate love of Christ is shared with all. Their VALUES: Reverence: for the sacredness of human life and for the uniqueness of each person, especially those who are poorest and/or weakest. Family Sprit: fostering participation in the life of the home and rejecting all forms of discrimination. Humble Service: an appreciation of simple, everyday tasks and experiences and humble means in accomplishing our work. Compassion: eagerness to relieve pain in all its forms and to make the elderly happy. Stewardship: trust in God’s Providence and the generosity of others to provide for our needs; just

compensation for our collaborators; a spirit of gratitude and sharing. The Little Sister of the Poor will be speaking al all the Masses next weekend. Please prayerfully consider supporting their works with a donation.

During the last few weeks, many parish families received a letter from Cardinal Cupich requesting your participation in pledging to the 2019 Annual Catholic Appeal. We ask that you respond as gener-ously as possible. This year, the theme of the Appeal is “Come, Follow Me…and share the Word.” We have all received God’s love. By financially supporting the ministries and services funded by the Annual Catholic Appeal, we help to extend God’s love to many, many others. As you review the mailing from Cardinal Cupich, take note of those services that directly support the work of our parish and please give generously. When our parish reaches its goal of $27,066.90 in paid pledges, all additional funds contributed will be returned to us for use in our Parish.

Cuando revise el material enviado por el Cardenal Cupich, tome nota de aquellos servicios que apoyan directamente el trabajo de nuestra parroquia y por favor, dé una aportación generosa. Cuando nuestra parroquia alcance el objetivo de reunir $27,066.90, en promesas pagadas, se nos devolverá el 100% de las contribuciones adicionales que recibamos para utilizarlas en nuestra parroquia.
