My dear brothers and sisters, As I am ending my time here at St. Gregory the Great, I simply would like to thank you for all the blessings in which you have given me. You have been a very special gift to me. As I reflect on these past years, I remember tears and joys, challenges and successes. I remember smiling faces when your child was welcomed into the Church in Baptism or when you were united in the Sacrament of Marriage. I saw humble hearts when you came forward to receive Our Lord at Mass. I experienced tears of sorrow when we laid to rest your loved ones. For this, I thank you. I always believe that God puts people into our lives to help us get closer to Him. Thank you for allowing me to walk with you. I remember stories in which many of you have shared, jokes that made me laugh, experiences that have made me cry. For this, I thank you. I remember those moments, when together, we would pray for our community at the end of Mass by praying the Hail Mary. For this, I thank you. In everything that we have experienced, I saw Christ in You. For this, I thank you. My prayer for you is this...that you always remain close to God on your journey of faith, and to please pray for me, that I may be a priest who serves God with a heart with like His Most Sacred Heart. Mis queridos hermanos y hermanas, Al terminar mi tiempo aquí en San Gregorio Magno, simplemente me gustaría agradecerles por todas las bendiciones que me han dado. Ha sido un regalo muy especial para mí. Al reflexionar sobre estos últimos años, recuerdo lágrimas y alegrías, desafíos y éxitos. Recuerdo caras sonrientes cuando su hijo fue recibido en la Iglesia en el Bautismo o cuando se unieron en el Sacramento del Matrimonio. Vi corazones humildes cuando se acercaron a recibir a Nuestro Señor en la Misa. Experimenté lágrimas de dolor cuando enterramos a sus seres queridos. Por esto les doy las gracias. Siempre creo que Dios pone personas en nuestras vidas para ayudarnos a acercarnos a Él. Gracias por permitirme caminar con ustedes. Recuerdo historias en las que muchos de ustedes han compartido, chistes que me hicieron reír, experiencias que me hicieron llorar. Por esto les doy las gracias. Recuerdo aquellos momentos en los que juntos rezábamos por nuestra comunidad al final de la misa rezando el Ave María. Por esto les agradezco. En todo lo que hemos experimentado, vi a Cristo en ustedes. Por esto les doy las gracias. O God of compassion, your people are anxious in this time of pandemic.

Send your Holy Spirit among us to dispel our fears.

We cry out to you in our confusion; comfort us in our affliction.

Grant our leaders wisdom to guide us. Strengthen and sustain those who are ill,

and be with those who care for them. Help us to travel this road

in solidarity with our neighbors, with our eyes fixed on the salvation

promised us through the death and resurrection of your Son,

who is Lord forever and ever. Amen.

ORACIÓN EN TIEMPOS DE PANDEMIA

Oh, Dios de compasión, tu pueblo está angustiado

en este tiempo de pandemia. Envía tu Espíritu Santo en medio de nosotros

O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the cross took part in Jesus’ pain, keeping your faith firm.

You, Salvation of Your People, know what we need, and we are sure you will provide so that, as in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial.

Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows to lead us, through the cross, to the joy of the resurrection. Amen.

Formerly called “Extreme Unction” or “Last Rites,” this sacrament is to be administered at the beginning of a serious illness or before surgery because it provides strengthening and healing. The Parish Office can help you arrange an anointing.

Antiguamente llamado “Extrema Unción,” este Sacramento se ofrece al principio de una enfermedad
