Principal’s Message
Mrs. Miller’s 2nd Grade class decorated their fall bulletin board and planted sunflower seeds (with the help of the
docents from the Carlsbad Flower Fields).
Prayerfulness is a virtue that permeates who we are as Catholic
Christians and is at the center of our relationship with God. Our
students learn the traditional prayers of our Catholic faith, focusing
particularly on the Rosary during the month of October. During
these days when schedules are often overbooked and life is busy it
is so important to take time to turn to God in gratitude, in times of
great joy and sorrow, and just to “be” in his presence. As with any
conversation, it is important to allow ourselves time to listen to
God. Encouraging our children to incorporate spontaneous prayer,
as well as traditional prayers, in their prayer life allows them to see
God as a friend to whom they can turn. The ever-growing Prayer
Chain in the library is a testament to devotion our children have to
prayer, and to their unquestioning faith that God is listening.
October is a month dedicated to the Missions. Students are
encouraged to earn a little extra money doing extra chores at home
to help those in need. Their true sacrifice is realized when they
donate the fruits of their labor to our brothers and sisters in need
around the world. For great resources on the Missions around the
world, check out www.hcakids.org with your child.
Our service activity this month will benefit Cross Catholic
Outreach. This is our fourth year of partnership with CCO and our
students always demonstrate great commitment and generosity in
donating meals to the hungry around the world. Students are
encouraged to earn quarters and contribute them to their class total
during The Great Quarter Race on October 31.
As we proceed through the remainder of the first quarter it is
important to encourage our students to work diligently with
sustained effort to reach their academic goals. Regular attendance
at school along with submitting assignments on time are both
crucial to student success. Today you are receiving the first of three
STAR Assessments reports for your child this year. The data from
these assessments offers valuable information on student progress,
along with teacher observations, and classroom summative and
formative assessment.
Parents and teachers, working in
collaborative partnership, provide
support that ensures success for
every child.
Blessings for a faith-filled week!
