THE RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS
Do you, or someone you know, feel a calling to grow closer to God through His Church? Saint Gregory the Great welcomes new members and tries to provide appropriate spiritual formation according to each person’s needs. Some who come to us have had little or no affiliation with the Christian faith; others have been baptized and have been active members in other Christian traditions. For more information, please contact:
Deacon Ron at [email protected], or 858 653-3582. http://stgg.org/home/serve/christian-formation/rcia

Increased Offertory Program
“LIVING OUR FAITH, MEETING THE CHALLENGE”
Commitment Sunday is this weekend at all Masses.
We encourage all parishioners to complete and turn in
your Commitment Cards to the church. The Commitment
Card contains information on how to plan your increased
offertory gift to the church, and asks for your commitment
over the next year. If you have any questions regarding
this program, or how to give electronically, please contact
the Office.
Everyday Stewardship For all I know this Everyday Stewardship reflection is the last one you will ever read. That's not because I fear you will no longer get something out of reading these. At least, I hope not! It is because Jesus may very well return by this time next week. Then there will be no more need for reflections like these in bulletins, on websites, or wherever else you are reading this. You think the odds are against this happening in the next few days? I can gamble from time to time but I guess this is not something I am willing to say won't happen for sure. We do believe Jesus will come again, don't we? For all of us there are things we put off until tomorrow. Sometimes, that tomorrow never comes. We act like we have all the time in the world. However, time on this earth is for certain one thing that does not exist in unlimited supply. Death is the primary way earthly time ends for us. Yet there will come a time when Jesus returns and if you and I are still living at that time, I hope he finds us ready. Are you ready for such an event? Have you taken seriously your decision to be a disciple of Jesus Christ? Has that decision moved you to live a life of stewardship where all you have and are belongs to God? Or have you put all of that off to somewhere down the road? Chances are you will be reading next week's reflection and nothing too earth changing will have happened. But then, maybe, just maybe, this time is when we all lose that bet. ~~ Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS LPI Art & Media 2017

St. Gregory the Great Catholic School
OPEN HOUSE, December 10, 2017 1-3 P.M. ALL ARE WELCOME!
The Great Quarter Race is an annual tradition at St. Gregory the Great Catholic School. On October 31 we celebrate Halloween by placing quarters gather and earned by students through-out the month of October. Each quarter represents a nutrition-packed vitameal to feed a hungry child some-where in the world. The quarters are placed on the prome-nade by each grade and then counted to determine which grade won the “race”. The second-grade class came out on top with a total of 1,576 quarter or meals. The total do-nation from our school to Cross Catholic Outreach was 6, 228 quarters or $1,557. We are proud and honored to partner with Cross Catholic Outreach to reach out to our brothers and sisters in need through the world. A Food Drive in collaboration with the Sister Parish Outreach Min-istry at St. Gregory Parish will be our service focus for the month of November. All Saints Day: Many of our students chose to dress as
their favorite saint on November 1. Popular saints included St. john Bosco, St. Rose of Lima, St. Anthony, St. Gregory the Great, St. Teresa of Kolkata, St. Fran-cis, Mary Mother of Jesus, and St. Patrick.

Our Parish has a wonderful Thanksgiving tradition of blessing and distributing homemade loaves of bread at our Thanksgiv-ing Eve Mass. We are looking for volunteers to bake bread so that we may continue the warm and wonderful gift of giving a loaf of bread at the end of Mass. Breads such as zucchini, pumpkin, etc., would be greatly appreciated. Please no white bread. If you are able to help us, please bake a few individually wrapped, small loaves of bread and bring them to Mass for distribu-tion. If you would like to help carry out this marvelous tradition and cannot attend Mass that evening, please bring them to the Parish Office during the day Tuesday, November 21, or Wednesday, the 22nd before Noon. (The Parish Office closes at Noon the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.)
