The sixth Grade had a fun and spirited day on the first retreat of the year, lead

by NET Ministries. We look forward to bringing them back again for seventh grade in December and eighth grade in May.

SPECIAL NOTE: If you are involved in church ministry(lector, extraordinary minister of the Eucharist, Little Church, etc…) Your time served will not be used for volunteer hours at the school.

Excellence The report card is an assessment of what your child has learned and achieved at specific times in the school year. It is based on observations, daily work, projects, and tests. When you receive your child’s report card, it is important to sit down with the student to look at his/her report card. Remember to focus on the positives first. Please continue to encourage daily reading. There are books in the school and

classroom libraries to choose from, as well as Scholastic book orders.

STAR TESTING will begin November 1-15. Please stress the importance of the test as it provides a window into the growth of your child. Get plenty of rest and eat well during this time, especially.

Staying Healthy Repeat Post

In the interest of promoting healthy lifestyle, I am asking that you consider different foods to share with the students during special celebrations. It is hard for a student to say, “NO” to a cupcake /donut. Unfortunately, we are adding to the risk of juvenile diabetes, obesity, and other health concerns related to unhealthy foods. As mentioned in the first newsletter, we also want to protect our children who may have extreme allergies. Some more healthy birthday celebration snacks would be fruit cups, fresh veggies, or possibly stay away from food and give small party bags with school supplies. I know it doesn’t sound fun, but in the long run we will be promoters of good health.

What is Gratitude? Gratitude is expressing thanks for anything we have received. People who take the time to notice and appreciate

the good things that come their way through grace, or the goodness of others are happier and more peaceful. There is research

consistent with the thought that people who demonstrate high levels of gratitude do better on cognitive tests and tests of problem

solving skills. They practice healthier habits, have better relationships, are more optimistic and live longer. Gratitude is one

powerful emotion. How do we cultivate gratitude in our children and ourselves? Developing gratitude is surprisingly easy.
