Upcoming Special Events
Due to Covid-19, we have made necessary changes to our annual fundraising line-up. Please note that we will follow the mandates of the government, and the diocese, whatever that may be, at the time of the event. We will have our annual Fall Golf Tournament on September 12, 2020. Please be assured that, if for any reason, the tournament has to be cancelled, your donation, or entry fee, will be refunded to you. The deadline to send in your entry form or donation is September 1, 2020. We ask that you please adhere to the deadline, as a courtesy, and our commitment to the golf course. Entry forms are available in the narthex as well as the church office. Fall Fest has been postponed until November 8th. Unfortunately, we will have to cancel Food Fest due to restrictions from the diocese. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call Kara in the church office. We are so very blessed to have such wonderful support from our parishioners and sincerely appreciate all that you do for our church.
Families have the option of at home classes or live classes for religion classes. At Home – Students in 1st through 11th Grade In this model, parents provide weekly faith formation in the home for students in 1st through 11th grade to complete assignments. Families use the same curriculum that's used in live classes, with support from the faith formation office during designated hours. Progress is monitored by the director of faith formation. This program begins in September. Live Classes – Students in 1st through 11th Grade This program provides religion classes to Catholic children attending secular schools. They are facilitated by a catechist (teacher) in a classroom setting using textbooks, music, videos, etc. to enhance their learning experience. This group meets each Wednesday at 6:15 pm. Parents are encouraged to volunteer. All classes begin September 16th. For registration information please contact Monice Oliphant at (225) 775-8850 or [email protected]

Nothing Can Separate Us
Today’s passage from Saint Paul’s letter to the Romans concludes Chapter 8 with a flourish. It is the exclamation point of Paul’s teaching on the presence of the Spirit within them and among them. The church in Rome faced great suffering as they were marginalized and persecuted for their faith. Paul names both social and cosmic forces that oppress them, over which they have no control. Their trials likely provoked questions that led them to wonder, “Where is God?” Paul teaches that God is so deeply present within us that nothing can separate us from God. This includes our own forms of resistance. Even when we find myriad ways to avoid and run away, God is waiting patiently. Even when God seems distant or absent, God continues to invite, to welcome, and to speak to us.© J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
