THE CHIMNEY REBUILD PROJECT—STATUS UPDATE

We are pleased to announce that we have selected Quality Masonry Company, Inc. as our contractor for our chimney restoration project. Quality Masonry was selected from a list of seven potential vendors and is located in Marion, Ohio and specializes in masonry restoration and new construction projects with emphasis on older buildings and churches. As well, they have a number of historical building site restoration projects on their résumé. With their staff of 40 trained masons, they undertake projects all over the state of Ohio and also into Indiana. They are insured for both workman’s compensation, liability and property damage. Quality Masonry will demolish the current chimney down to an area just above the roof flashing and will then rebuild the new chimney. We have opted to reduce the height of the new chimney by over 10 feet and by doing so will reduce the cost of the project by several

thousand dollars. Included in the scope of the rebuild project are removal and re-installation of the cross, the addition of a new ‘thru-wall’ flashing system that is designed to weep water and moisture away from the interior walls of the chimney structure, a new metal cap for the top of the chimney, a new

LED light for our cross and the application of a water repellant brick sealant used to protect the brick veneer from weather extremes. We will not be able to match the color and style of the current bricks on the chimney since custom made bricks are extremely expensive, so there will be a slight visible difference once the project is complete. We will do our best to match the current brick color as close as possible. Total cost to rebuild the chimney will be $33,930. We have been advised that the project will take nearly five weeks for completion and anticipate the starting date to be late August or early September, 2017. As of June 25 our funding efforts have yielded $15,245, so we are 49% short of our project goal of $30,000. Please help us close the gap on our project fundraising by continuing to give to the Chimney Rebuild Project. Consider purchasing a “brick or bricks” to help with this important project. Bricks are being ‘sold’ in $1,000, $500, $200, $100 and $50 designations. Simply make your donation amount known in the
