AUDACITY There is a spirit of audacity in our readings today. During a time of injustice and threat of invasion, the prophet Micah boldly announces that the God of insignificant Israel will raise up a leader from backwater Bethlehem, and this leader will bring justice and peace to the whole world. In the Gospel, Elizabeth and Mary, marginalized women, brazenly celebrate that their sons will be world-changing instruments of God. We further learn that this audacity is rooted in trust in God. The author of Hebrews describes the faithful obedience of Jesus. Mary is shown as the exemplar of faithful trust in God. This is the way God often seems to work, in the ordinary and marginalized in our world. Those who seem weak have learned to trust in God’s strength. These have the audacity to become instruments of God’s peace and justice. VALOR Hay un espíritu de valor en nuestras lecturas de hoy. BAPTISM DATE February 5, 2022

CLASSES: Sat. Jan. 15 1 P.M.- 2:30P.M. Sat. Jan. 22 1 P.M.– 2:30 P.M. PARENTS: Must be registered parishioners or live within the boundaries of St. Joan of Arc. You need to present child’s long form birth certificate from the city/ state. No copies or faxes are allowed. GODPARENTS: All Godparents (married or single) must be practicing Catholics. Godparents, if a Couple, must be married through the Roman Catholic Church. Couples who are married civilly (by judge) or living together cannot be godparents If single, must be at least 16yrs old and have received the Sacrament of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation. Only 1 Godparent is needed, but if there are 2, Only 1 male and 1 female will be permitted to be godparents. Parents and Godparents Required to attend 2 Baptism Classes Donation of $35.00 at the time of registration. All documents must be submitted at the time of registration at the parish office.
