Jesus sent out 72 of his followers to spread the good news

about God. They were not to bring anything with them - no

food, no extra clothes or shoes, not even money to spend.

They were to visit strangers and completely depend on God

to give them what they needed. That took a lot of faith!

Prayer

Dear God, help me to remember that you

will give me what I need.

Mission for the Week

Make a card for one of your neighbors,

and tell that person, "Jesus loves you!"

Live The Liturgy -

Inspiration For The Week Jesus tells his disciples, "I am sending you

like lambs among wolves." Getting people to

see the truth about who they are is not always

easy or welcomed. Some people want to believe that they

have life under control and they do not need any further

advice, direction, or challenge from others. Being heralds

of the Gospel means doing precisely that. We come with a

message that is not always welcome or desired by our sis-

ters and brothers. Yet, it is desperately needed. People need

to be reminded of who they are, who God is, and the neces-

sity of repentance for entering the Kingdom of God. It is

not about what we want but what God wants. We are called

to be peacemakers and laborers for justice and mercy. Are

you willing to bring this challenging message to those who

may be indifferent or even hostile to hearing it?

A Family Perspective Family Life Education

Just like the seventy two disciples sent out by

Jesus in today’s Gospel, families are expected to be mission-

aries. By our lives, words and life style we proclaim peace,

commitment, fidelity and respect to a culture caught up with

violence and gratification.

Rectory Summer Hours The Rectory will be closed each Friday during

summer. Noon Mass will be celebrated in the

Chapel as usual. Office hours are:

Monday-Thursday 9:00am-4:30pm.

14th Sunday In Ordinary Time This Sunday, Jesus reminds us that "the harvest is abundant but the laborers are few." As Catholic disciples, we

are the laborers that the Master is sending. All around us are opportunities to share the love and mercy of Jesus

Christ - our homes, our workplaces, our neighborhoods, even our faith communities! Lest we feel unequipped

for the task, Jesus gives us some advice.

"Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals." We might not have a theology degree or training in public speaking, but that doesn't

mean we can't share the Gospel. The power of God is at work in simplicity. The disciples went forth with nothing as a reminder to

trust in the Providence of God. Say a little prayer that God will speak through you and has a need for your gifts, just as you are.

"Do not move about from one house to another." So much of the life of Jesus was about relationships. He modeled this attitude by

journeying with his disciples. Here he makes the same recommendation to them, to remain with the same family for their entire

stay in the town. Break bread with others. Invite them to coffee or a game night in your home. Sharing your faith isn't just about

saying the right thing, but loving well over time.

"The dust of your town that clings to our feet, even that we shake off." Sometimes we want to help someone, but for whatever rea-

son, they don't receive it well. Sometimes people aren't interested in our efforts to invite them deeper into faith. When rejection

happens, don't carry it with you. Don't let it over-burden your heart. Rejoice that you share in the mission of Christ, and keep on

loving the next person he places in your path!

HOPE Appeal Update To date SJB/HT Parish has a total of $10,617.50

pledged/collected. Our HOPE Appeal goal is

$21,926.89 thank you to all who have prayerfully

and generously given to the 2019 HOPE Appeal. It is not to

late to donate. Donation envelopes can be found at all en-

trances of the Church. Extra envelopes are in the office. Call

the rectory if you need any assistance.

A Summer Blessing For Our Children May our loving God watch over you

and keep alive in your heart

all that you have learned this year.

Keep your mind on God.

Remember to pray often and to celebrate your faith,

at home with your family,

and at Mass with your faith family.

Keep your faith in God. Let all the joys of summer

remind you of God’s goodness.

Never forget that God is always with you,

no matter what. May the God of all creation,

who comes to us in Jesus,

and lives among us in the Holy Spirit,

keep you safe, happy and

holy this summer and always.

Amen.

Requested by The Family

Vocation Blurbs “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are

few; so ask the master of the harvest to send

out laborers for his harvest.” Jesus’ invitation

has become one of our most well known prayers for religious

vocations. As his disciples, we must heed this command and

make our prayers known to God to provide an increase in

these generous souls. Does your family take time together to

pray for more vocations to serve Jesus and his Church? Have

you noticed someone who might have a vocation to serve

alongside others laboring in the harvest? Encouraging and

praying for him or her is one of the most generous things you

can do for the Church! For help in discerning God’s call, visit

www.vocations-syracuse.org or call 315-470-1468.

Due to early transmit, collections for June 29th & 30th

will be posted next week.
