Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time: Today we hear the parable of the landowner who hires workers for his vineyard throughout the day, some at sunrise, some just before evening. We are those workers. We are called to follow Christ into the fields and make disciples of all na-tions. We may have been called at an early age, in middle age, or when we are old. But as Christians we are all called to this mission. To use the words of Paul and Isaiah, may we magni-fy Christ in our bodies as we call upon the Lord in our midst. Vigésimo Quinto Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario: Hoy escuchamos la parábola del dueño de una viña que emplea a trabajadores en el curso de un dia; algunos al amanecer y otros ape-nas antes de caer la tarde. Nosotros somos esos trabajadores que estamos llamados a seguir a Cristo en los campos y hacer discípulos de todas las naciones. Se nos pude haber llamado desde muy temprano edad, en la mediana edad o ya de bien mayores, pero todos nosotros cristianos estamos llamados a esa misión. Haciéndonos eco de las palabras de Pablo y de Isaías, que Cristo sea glorificado en nuestra vida mientras invocamos al Señor en medio de nosotros.

On September 27, the Church celebrates the feast of St. Vincent de Paul, who knew that “God had sent him to bring good news to the poor”. Together with your gifts, the members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul continue his work and mission in our parish. El 27 de septiembre, la Iglesia celebra la fiesta de San Vicente de Paul, quien sabia que “Dios lo había enviado para llevar la buena noticia a los pobres”. Junto son su donación, los miem-bros de la Sociedad de San Vicente de Paul continúan su trabajo y misión en nuestra pa-rroquia. October, Month of the Holy Rosary. October is one of our favorite months because it has been designated as, “The Month of the Holy Rosary”. This is not new. Pope Leo XIII decreed this in the late 1800s. When Saint John Paul II spoke of the rosary, he said it was his favorite prayer. He called the rosary a simple prayer that “sets the rhythm of life”. At St. John we plan on honoring our Blessed Mother by pray-ing a community rosary every day in October. These rosaries will be led by different ministry groups throughout the month. The schedule for the times and places for these daily rosar-ies will be published next weekend. The major-ity of the rosaries will be prayed at the church with the exception of October 13, which will be at Johnson Park at 2pm. Please make an extra effort to join us, daily if possible. Richard Shaefer has graciously offered his time and talent to live stream many of these daily rosar-ies. He will have them on our website for those who may not be able to join us in person. You might not be really familiar with the rosary or you might just be a little rusty, but by the end

of October we hope you will be inspired to join us in this “rhythm of life” that St. Pope John Paull II spoke of. According to the CCC: When we pray to Mary, we are adhering with her to the plan of the Father, who send his Son to save all men. Like the beloved disciple we welcome Jesus’ mother into our homes, for she has become the mother of all the living. We can pray with and to her. The prayer of the church is sustained by the prayer of Mary, and united with it, in hope. (CCC 2679 page 644) Octubre, mes del Santo Rosario. Octubre es uno de nuestros meses favoritos porque ha sido designado como el Mes del Santo Rosa-rio. Esto no es algo nuevo. El Papa León XIII decreto esto a finales de los anos 1800. Cuan-do el San Juan Pablo II hablo del rosario dijo que era su oración favorita. El llamo al rosario una oración simple que “marca el ritmo de la vida”. Nosotros en San Juan estamos planean-do honrar a la Virgen María rezando el rosario en comunidad todos los días del mes de octu-bre. Estos rosarios serán dirigidos por diferen-tes grupos de ministerio durante todo el mes. El calendario de horarios y lugares de estos rosarios diarios se publicara el próximo fin de semana. La mayoría de los rosarios se rezaran en la iglesia a excepción del dia 13 que será en el parque Johnson a las 2pm. Pedimos que hagan un esfuerzo para unirse a la comunidad de San Juan todos los días, si es posible. Ri-chard Schaefer ha ofrecido generosamente su tiempo y talento para transmitir en vivo mu-chos de estos rosarios diarios y también los tendrá en nuestro sitio web para que quienes no pueda estar con nosotros lo hagan desde sus hogares en su propio tiempo. Puede ser que usted no esta muy familiarizado con el rosario o podrían estar un poco oxidados, pero al final del mes de octubre esperamos que se sientan inspirados a unirse a nosotros en este “ritmo de la vida” que San Juan Pablo II se refería. El Catecismo de la Iglesia católica dice que cuando rezamos a María, nos adherimos con ella al plan del Padre, que envía a su Hijo para salvar a todos los hombres. Como el dis-cípulo amado, nosotros debemos acoger a la madre de Jesús en nuestros hogares, porque se ha convertido en la Madre de todos los vivos. Nosotros podemos orar con ella y a ella. La oración de la iglesia esta sostenida por la oración de María y así, unida a ella, en espe-ranza.

Baptism Classes. Spanish Pre-Baptism classes for parents and godparents are on the 1st Saturday of each month at 10 am. The English Pre-Baptism classes are on the 3rd Monday of each month at 5:30 pm. Those wishing to participate in the pre-baptism classes must register 1 week in advance of the class. Group Baptisms will be celebrated on the 2nd & 4th Satur-days of each month at 10 am. All neces-sary paperwork must be turned in to the office 2 weeks before the date of the bap-tism. Please contact the Parish Office for more information.
